"Well, I cannot say enough good things about the Inn on La Loma Plaza. I would give it a higher rating if possible. My wife and I just had a spectacular experience. The Inn itself is immaculate, and the grounds and gardens are just wonderful. We would’ve been happy just hanging out there the entire time reading a book and drinking coffee. So serene and beautiful." — J.H.

"We loved this place! Everything about it: the rooms we had were both fantastic (great sheets), the breakfast was wonderful (freshly made, many options and accommodating on the time), the location was perfect (10 min walk to downtown, 25-30 min drive to Ski Valley), Peggy was knowledgeable about the local history, the history of the property itself (which was very interesting), and very helpful with restaurant recommendations (we did not have a bad meal in Taos - take all of her recs.) The house-dog Winston was very sweet. We were able to take our 2 little dogs on this trip and they loved Winston (he was very well behaved.) The price of this property was also very reasonable. We will stay there on our return trip to Taos, which I hope is very soon!" — M.R.

"Breakfast offered a wide selection with different main courses each morning, served in a quiet, picturesque room with a view of the peaceful courtyard. The hotel is historical, tucked away and seemingly off by itself, yet within walking distance of the town plaza. My wife and I took several pictures of the front of the hotel and the courtyard and spent time just relaxing in front of our room enjoying the setting." — C.T.

"The Inn La Loma was a beautiful and peaceful place to stay, the pictures on the listing don't do it justice. The innkeeper was very welcoming and informative. The breakfasts were delicious!! I expected a pretty cursory affair as they often are, but it was made to order and was made up of several courses. I strongly recommend! I can't wait to return for a longer stay." — D.G.

A private stairway under the branches of an old elm tree, leads to this second floor, spacious junior suite with views on three sides of Taos Mountain, the Sangre de Cristo Range, and the historic residential La Loma Plaza, circa 1790. Named for local artist Carey Moore who painted here, Carey's Studio is a bright, open space, with handcrafted furniture, a large wood burning fireplace, leather sofa that can be made into a sleeper, window seat bancos, mini-kitchenette, and a table and chair area.

Carey Moore (1926 - 2011) enjoyed a career in theater on both coasts before settling in Taos in 1978 to pursue her artistic passion as a visual artist. A beloved Taos painter, Carey’s deep, vibrant palette spoke volumes of her artistic approach: “…you must be aware of the dramatic moment and persuade your audience to that same awareness so that they want to return for a second look.”

We are an historic landmark in the heart of Taos — located on La Loma Plaza, formerly called Plazuela de San Antonio, the Inn's first floor was built in 1800 as part of a fortified Spanish settlement. As a property on the National Register of Historic Places, our beautifully restored hacienda retains its historic ambiance and pays homage to quintessential Pueblo Revival architecture (Santa Fe Style) with details such as: high ceilings, thick adobe walls, hardwood and tile floors, hand carved furniture, corbels and vigas, and southwestern art and decor.
