Camp Sanders

Camp Sanders Here at Camp Sanders, we provide camp, retreat and conference facilities in picturesque southern Benewah County, Idaho.

Ministries, churches, individuals, families, non-profit and educational organizations utilize Camp Sanders for camps, meetings, weddings, reunions, seminars, training classes and retreats in a comfortable, rustic rural setting of over 90 acres. Indian Creek courses through the camp and provides the water for Gem Lake, a small recreational pond on the campgrounds. We offer facilities for both smal

l groups and groups as large as 195. In addition to overnight accommodations which include dorms, cabins, and bunkhouses, the camp also provides meal services. The camp has several small, medium and large group meeting venues including the Dining Hall, Lakeside Chapel, and in warm months, the historic Sanders Tabernacle (circa 1935) pictured below. Sanders also has 12 RV spaces with electric hook-ups for those in your group that have campers or recreation vehicles. Our facility rates are among the lowest in the region. We have endeavored to keep costs low so people can afford to get away from the proverbial "rat race" and enjoy a time of renewal and recreation. Day use and winter camps are also available. Whatever your retreat, camp or seminar needs are, Camp Sanders can provide in a low-cost manner. Contact Christy Bates Gallogly, Camp Manager, for rate information. The camp phone is (208) 892-4842 or email at [email protected]. Camp Sanders is owned and operated by Sanders Christian Camp, Inc. is a non-profit corporation governed by an independent Board of Directors.

We know everyone has heard of the tragic fires in the Spokane, WA area which began on August 1. This is only about 50 miles from Camp Sanders. Many of our Friends of Camp Sanders are from that area and our collective hearts hurt with them.

We know of one Camp Sanders family who lost their home in the arson-caused fires. They attend Spokane First Free Methodist Church, where they are one of three families who lost their homes. That family has been a Friend of Camp Sanders for generations, Mike & Debbie Kreuch. Here is their story of faith and hope.

Mike & Debbie lost their home in the Old Trails fire. They evacuated to First Church which had opened for evacuees, and then to their 5th wheel, being stored at a friend's home, with three days worth of clothes, their photos, their important documents, and the clothes & shoes they were wearing. They later learned of their loss after their granddaughter took a video of their neighborhood and home. The Kreuches had just paid off their mortgage three days before the fires.

They were immediately overwhelmed with love and caring. They were given food, money and their insurance company cut them a check for living expenses. First Church, State disaster relief and Red Cross funds also have been received to replace household items. Other generous friends and family have sent clothes, money, gift cards, and of course, the countless prayers on their behalf are treasured.

Debbie says, "We have more than some. It will be okay. God has provided! We have seen the hand of God move through this whole process."

They are working through the tedious process of canceling home services, taking care of mail and working with their insurance adjuster. They are inventorying everything they lost in the house. Fortunately, they had some current and some other fairly recent pictures that would be helpful in the process. There are permits to be had for asbestos and chemical cleanup, all out of pocket before being reimbursed by the insurance company.

Their plan is to move in to an apartment as soon as possible and will plan to rebuild. They have talked to a contractor. They could possibly be in their new home by next summer.

Just like the tragic loss of the camp dining hall to fire, God showed His hand with many miraculous stories of lives and properties saved in the Spokane fires. We give Him praise and glory! \0/

Fire Statistics:
65,000 people evacuated

900+ structures lost
10,898 structures SAVED

10,000+ acres burned
39,000 acres SAVED

And, gratefully, no lives were lost.

The Inland & Pacific Northwest is grateful for the first responders from all over the world who continue to battle to protect people and property as fires continue to rage in the west. As of this posting, the Spokane fires are contained but not fully extinguished. Godspeed.

The pavers will be included on an outside patio or nearby sidewalk. We have received funds for TEN pavers! That is $6,000. We'd love to have a minimum of 15 pavers to raise $9,000.

Families have gone together to raise the $600 per brick to honor a past loved one who was a strong supporter of the camp. The builders ... the vision-casters ... the servants.

Dining Hall Reconstruction Update!

God is moving the ministry of Camp Sanders forward through the faithful, generous friends of the camp. Look what God has done! Forward with a flame of living fire! IYKYK

We're still waiting for permit approvals from the county. The Facilities Team of the Board is looking at bids and hopes to finalize this week. We are hoping for ground breaking in August. Exciting things to come!

PRAY that the permit approval process gets pushed to the top of the pile.

Camp Sanders welcomes our new camp manager, Melanie Morehouse!

"I live in Potlatch, but grew up on Sanders Rd. I have 4 kids 2 girls and 2 boys from 16 to 10. My husband passed away from cancer Oct. of 2024 after 6 years of fighting it. We would have been married 20 years this year.

One of the board members approached me about the job when I was volunteering at the Awana program at the Sanders Church. It worked with my schedule as a homeschooling single parent. At first the job was just logistics, but I have since come to really love the people and the place. I love to see how God directs our journeys and provides.

When I have a chance I like to play Pickleball and really enjoy traveling. My grandmother instilled in me a love for God's creation, I love the beauty in the veins of the smallest flower and the vastness of a sunset or the ocean. It is amazing to see God's handwork displayed in everyday life.

My relationship with Camp Sanders is relatively new, I had never seen all of the camp until Dec. when I was interviewed for the job. I have since come to really enjoy it, and the peace and the beauty it offers.

The most rewarding part about the position is facilitating other people and getting to hear and see their joy while they are at the Camp. That goes for both the guests and the summer staff. I love getting people what they need so they can do their job well.

I hope to help things at the camp work seamlessly and function well so that every visitor can have a restful experience and grow in their walk with the Lord. My desire is to be able to improve the facilities and grounds to accommodate that goal as time goes on."

We are excited to have Melanie join our ministry. Join us in praying for her success. God bless you, Melanie!

Are you ready for some Family Camp photos? This year's camp was truly amazing. Such a great turnout, with all ages attending. Between morning Bible Study with adults, kids VBS and worship in the beautiful Tabernacle, God met us there as He has for the last 91 years.

And in between meaningful conversations, napping and basking in the surrounding beauty, there was also softball, volleyball, board & card games, wonderful meals, hiking, croquet, paddle boarding, swimming, and even baptisms in Little Gem Lake.

We'll see you next year!
