Our last Leonid meteor shower this past week was perfection and our platform was perfect for our insulated hammocks to stare at the stars all night for nature's beautiful show!!

That's a wrap on our memorial day ! We got our 12'x12' platform built/posted in the ground, water tank, and bear box for storage. Next trip; side ladder for getting up, railing for staying up, and a slide for going down, along with finalizing body shower, foot shower, and sink. We have a lot of work ahead of us with sooo many memories to make along the way! This weekend was an awesome memorial day weekend!

13 days til we are at Camp Max frolicking through the desert with Maximus!

School will be out and it's memorial day weekend! We will be at the camp finalizing the road addition, tent platform, platform roof, bear box, and start on our water tower🥰❣️🌄🚐 lovin' life, living life, happy campers.

Our first camping trip at Camp Max was absolutely perfect! No lights, no neighbors, no dogs barking, no traffic, perfect peaceful and relaxing! I thought we would have more night life but we only had a coyote come around one night around 4 am. Max didn't even stir.

On this trip we set up our fire pit and washers, the important things. Our next trip back we will be returning for the Lyrids meteor shower April 22-23 and begin installing the water, bear box, and start on the shelter.

Did you know The Chisos Mountains were created by volcanic 35-44 million years ago?
While the volcano is dormant, there are still signs of activity. Specifically, the hot springs around the area. After the eruption in a sea, it eventually grew to become the dessert it is now, which allows everyone to see fossils and history of the land while hiking. Red iron rocks mixed with soft calcium dunes, it is so fun to imagine what life in this dessert was like before!!!
The highest point in the Chisos Mountain range is Emory's Peak standing at 7,825 ft above sea level and making it Texas 2nd highest peak in Texas.

Disclaimer** thess pics are NOT at our campsite but within the parks a must see hike/visit bc they're my personal favorite. Go visit the chisos basin!!

Can you name this galaxy?! We can thanks to and not only that, it is so dark in Terlingua we were able to see not only the milky way from one side to the other horizon, but we were also able to see Zodiacal Light (the tall cone in the west which is space dust in our solar system lit up by the sun), Andromeda Galaxy, and the Orion Nebula all with OUR NAKED EYES!!! Thankfully we had Dr. Brian Ottum as our amazing tour guide with his telescope projected on a 100" screen! We viewed; the 7 Sisters, Jupiter, Uranus, Orion Nebula, and finished with this above galaxy similar to our own! Yess we were able to see it all with our naked eye but was even more amazing on the big screen!

We will be returning for the next amazing star show August 11-12th to view the upcoming Perseid meteor shower!! Of course there are no better seats for this show than at Camp Max .
