Wonderful stay at boutique hotel in a gorgeous setting
The Celilo Inn is on the hillside overlooking the Columbia River, The Dalles Dam & Bridge, and pretty much all of The Dalles. The king room with a view was spacious, laid out well *we really liked the separation of the fridge / microwave, closet, bathroom from the main living space. The bed was comfy, lighting was great, and we were able to leave the curtains open all night as the room was situated where no one could see in while we had the best view of city lights at night, & Mt. Hood in daytime. The included breakfast was basic but good, cinnamon rolls, good coffee, plus all the other usual items you’d get. There is much to do in The Dalles and surrounding areas. The riverside bike trail was very fun, yes we rode at 38 degrees. We had planned one night but loved the motel so much we decided to stay, and are very glad we did.

Lovely stay: Tripadvisor
This was our 5 hotel/Airbnb stay in a row on a 6 night road trip to the West coast to start our new work assignments. The Celilo was one of our favorite stays. This motel was exactly as described in other reviews: recently remodeled, clean, great views, friendly staff, within a short drive to numerous restaurants. It is up on an overlook and is an old motel that has been totally refurbished and looks great. Got a free "glass" of wine (in a plastic cup, not sure what that was about), also as advertised. I always read TripAdvisor reviews to get a sense of a property before I book it and I'm glad I did. Wanted to post yet another one with high praise for this unique property.

Modern, clean, great view, and terrific staff!
We overnighted here the other night and were delighted with what we found. The rooms, lobby, and other facilities are all updated comfortably and tastefully. (The mattress deserves special mention.) Each room had a view of the Columbia, the Dalles Dam, and the toll bridge to Washington, and there were outdoor viewing areas as well. The highway noise was undetectable in the rooms. Best of all, the staff was friendly and outstanding. A special shoutout to Gunner, who suggested we try the nearby Highway House for dinner, a locals' favorite. Wonderful!
