Hotel Royal owner Erin attended the Heritage Ohio Annual Conference in Cincinnati last week and had the opportunity to tour the American Sign Miseum. It has always been a goal to restore the original Hotel Royal blade sign at the front corner of our building, and the visit to the museum provided fresh inspiration to get it back in working order. Stay tuned for ways that you can support the effort to get it glowing again. Who doesn’t love a good old sign lighting up the night?💡

If you have stayed with us, you might have noticed a couple of things. First, that we love horses. A love that goes beyond aesthetic. They are a lifelong obsession and a rekindled passion of Hotel Royal owner, Erin. Second, that we offer drinks and snacks for donation that benefit an organization that we have come to know and love for its mission to make the healing power of horses more accessible.

The Special Horseman Connection provides grants that enable people with special needs to learn about horses, realize the benefits of equine activities and participate in group and individual riding activities such as, but not limited to, riding, camps and showing. We give in honor of a friend lost too soon for whom horses were a source of happiness.

We were proud to sponsor a class at the Special Horseman Connection’s Fall Fundraiser show at Dusty Boots Equestrian on September 5th. If you have donated towards a drink or snack during your stay, THANK YOU, we promise that it makes more of a difference than you can imagine.

A few (very kind) Google reviews have made note of our decor and we can’t help but feel tickled about that. We love it when guests get our vibe! Along with creating spaces that are functional and comfortable, owner Erin wanted to incorporate pieces with a past that serve not only as decorative but also as commemorative, to the roots of Hotel Royal and the histories surrounding it. We’ve been a respite for travelers since 126 years ago and found and salvaged treasures - an antique railroad map, wild horse paint by numbers, and wood (reclaimed from our own building) vanities hint at our past and the destinations west and still wild that guests have dreamed of inside our walls. We’re proud to make space for these things and give them new life. (See last photo for a recent find we’re not quite sure what to do with yet, but couldn’t pass up.)

❗️Housekeeping @ Hotel Royal is Hiring❗️

We are currently looking for *immediate* cleaning help turning over our rooms and maintaining common spaces.

We are looking for multiple individuals who appreciate aesthetic, functional (and of course clean!) spaces, who have an eye for the details and who genuinely get satisfaction from the work of cleaning, tidying and otherwise creating a calm, welcoming atmosphere for guests. In return we offer a friendly, flexible, laidback environment/culture rooted in integrity and the desire to provide genuine, old-fashioned hospitality.

A minimum number of weekly hours is guaranteed in time spent maintaining our common spaces. Weekday and weekend shifts available, at least some weekend availability preferred. All shifts are between 11:00 a.m. and and 3:00 p.m.

Short-term rental cleaning experience is preferred, but not necessarily required. We have a comprehensive cleaning checklist with imagery for all spaces as guideline and provide all cleaning supplies and tools. All cleaning products used are non-toxic/eco-friendly.

We are very proud of our little hotel and its long history as a respite for travelers to and through Toledo. Our housekeepers are stewards of that legacy as much as we are. We would love to have you on board to help us write this next chapter.

There’s always room for your furry friends at Hotel Royal. We have a large lawn for stretching legs directly adjacent to our building and if your pup is a social butterfly, there’s a dog park just around the corner at Middlegrounds Metropark! No need to leave your bf at home!
