The temporary traffic signal at the Surf City Bridge is now active. 🚦
This pilot project is a joint effort between NCDOT and the Town of Surf City in an attempt to help reduce congestion at the roundabout by allowing more vehicles already on the island to move through more efficiently.
Drivers should be aware of the new signal and continue to follow all posted signage and roundabout traffic patterns.
As a reminder, this is a temporary setup while traffic patterns are evaluated.
All pedestrian walkways within the island roundabout are temporarily closed. Please follow posted detour routes.

Surf City bridge traffic circle update.

Heads up, Surf City! 🚦
Starting May 6, the NC Department of Transportation will be installing a temporary traffic signal on the bridge before the island roundabout in an effort to ease congestion as we head into the busy summer season. Crosswalks and pedestrian routes will also be adjusted during this time. This project is estimated to last a minimum of 2 weeks.
🔹 Expect to stop before entering the roundabout when coming over the bridge
🔹 Follow posted signs and drive with caution
🔹 Please use designated pedestrian detours shown on the map
These changes are temporary while officials evaluate what works best for long-term improvements. Your patience and cooperation make a big difference!

Good morning from a cold TB. Hopefully today is better than yesterday- arrived here last night to work on the cottage for the upcoming season, only to experience a set of busted pipes in the north side wall behind the shower when I turned the water on. Internal, and pex too which the plumber said was very uncommon. $300 later were much better and ready to get the cottage ready for our 2026 guests.
