This Nor’easter is hitting the North Carolina coast pretty hard but it seems just far enough north that it’s not really impacting Topsail Island. The curve of Onslow Bay is likely helping things.

30 years ago today Hurricane Fran tore through Topsail. The Tio-Sea Turtle was not spared but escaped total destruction due to her solid build and 8” square pilings. It’s the gray cottage second from the left missing 1/3 of its roof.
