In the 1960s, our grandparents purchased two lots with a total of 100 feet of river frontage. They built a charming Sears Cabin Kit on the property—the kind you could order straight out of the Sears & Roebuck catalog. In the late 1970s to earl

y 1980s, a tree fell on the screened-in porch. Instead of repairing it, they decided to build a larger room, complete with a wood-burning stove, creating a cozy space we enjoyed for many years. As children, we spent countless days playing, tubing, and fishing in the river, making memories that would last a lifetime. Over the years, we made small updates, such as adding HVAC, but the cabin still needed a major overhaul. When our grandparents passed it down to our parents—and later, to my sister Kim and me—we knew it was time for a complete transformation. Since we were grandfathered into the original footprint of the property, we couldn’t expand outward, so we decided to go up. We gutted the cabin and rebuilt it from the ground up. Today, everything is brand new, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Our goal is to keep the Little River Retreat in the family for many years to come. Now, we are thrilled to share our cabin with you and hope that your family creates wonderful memories here, just like we have.
