Michigan might be one of America’s most unsung states 🇺🇸…
The more time I spend here, the more I realise just how much this one state has to offer.
You can be ice fishing in ridiculous temperatures in the winter… then come back in summer and find yourself climbing hot sand dunes. You’ve got mountains to climb, forests that seem to go on forever, and lakes so enormous that, as a Brit, I still struggle to believe they’re actually lakes. 😂
Then there’s the food. Detroit-style pizza in the south, pasties as you head north, cherries, local favourites and completely different traditions depending on where you are.
But the thing I’ll remember most about Michigan is the people.
“Midwest nice” is very, very real.
Between our winter and summer trips, we’ve had thousands of little interactions with people here. Complete strangers stopping to talk to us, welcoming us into their towns, recommending places, sharing stories and giving us more gifts than we could ever count.
Some of the best moments we’ve had here haven’t even made it onto camera.
They’ve just been small moments of genuine kindness.
Michigan has the scenery, the seasons, the food and the adventure…
But I think it’s the people who make it special. ❤️
Michigan really does have a little bit of everything. And I’m still not sure the rest of the world realises just how special this place is.
