PSA: Smoke check complete ✅

We’ve been getting lots of questions and concerns with people quite certain we are just inundated with smoke, so we went looking for it ourselves:

1.) Valley walk… not much to report.
2.) Mt. Adams hike… still nothing really.

No fires in our immediate area. Yes, we’ve had a couple short bouts of smoke/haze in the air, generally during east wind events, but the normal and prevailing west winds have kept things mostly clear and pleasant for the vast majority of Summer.

We are not weathermen and things can certainly change, but if the pattern holds, we don’t think it’s always well-advised to derail your Summer plans over concerns with smoke.

The views are phenomenal and the experience is unforgettable!

Mount Adams climbing conditions are ideal right now and should be great for the next month or so. They used to say “August is mountain month,” but things are definitely progressing sooner this year with the light winter.

Mt. Adams towers above the Trout Lave valley with its summit at 12,276ft. It’s a big mountain, but the popular South Climb route is friendly for novice climbers and doesn’t require technical mountaineering experience to reach the summit.

Trout Lake Cozy Cabins is the perfect place for climbers to relax and revive before or after this grueling, but highly rewarding adventure 🏔️
