Two years. I guess I ended up taking quite a bit of license in the use of the word "pause".

Where are we? While the amount of love is infinite, my ability to operate The Hudson Guest House became greatly limited and required me to "slow" down.

Having started my career in Washington, DC after graduating from The Hotel School at Cornell University, I decided to return to where I still have more great friends and family than any other place in the world.

"Le Shak" is a very humble, tiny house built in the 1930's. Prohibition was over and gambling was in! One of many summer bungalows in historic Southern Maryland, it was not winterized and was an example of how some city folk tolerated the unbearable humidity in the Nation's Capital.

The Morgantown Ferry docked a half mile down the road before the new bridge replaced the old bridge to Virginia.

I plan to rent out this cozy cottage with the a Memorial Day weekend inauguration date.

Stay tuned, as this is the first missive referring to the future that I've written. The west bank of the Potomac River is a half mile stroll down the road. While I will be making physical changes to the structure starting this fall, 2023 is all about modest, simple accommodations. Well, my version of modest and simple. Of course there will be a wood stove to replace the pellet stove! Yes, bicycles are a must. How else can we make S'mores if there is no fire pit. No street lights or neighbors so one can actually see the constellations. Especially while taking an outdoor shower.

Gloriously private, quiet and endless natural beauty. Simple absolutely includes central air (new). I'm planting fruit trees and bushes, to cut down on that farm to table commute. Directly bathed in sunlight from dawn to dusk.

Thank you all for allowing me this extraordinarily nostalgic moment. Promise to keep you posted. Lots of love, that great big, one love to all from me.

We are on pause, awaiting the next chapter. Hudson was very good to us, but it was time to leave. There are other interesting river cities on the Hudson River, in the Capitol Region.
