One of my favorite things about living in a small town are the parades ….. so much pride, joy and participation by those in the parade and those of us lining the parade route. I appreciate that about living in a small town.
Thank you to all the people and businesses who were in the parade on Saturday. I appreciate you all and thank you for what you all do in our community.

The Launching Pad RV Park gathering in December was a celebration of the Christmas season as well as a celebration of our sweet RV park community.

Great people, delicious food, wonderful conversations …. we appreciate every member of are little community and what they bring to the table (literally) and to our RV park community and missed the ones who were unable to attend the gathering today.

Mix 1 tsp Epsom salt in 4 cups warm water.
Spray on the leaves and repeat 10 days later.

Helps boost magnesium, which can support stronger growth and better fruiting—especially for tomatoes, peppers, and roses.

(Still science-friendly: Epsom salt can help if your soil is low in magnesium, but shouldn’t be overused.)

Great information in this post. Thank you so much for posting this. I had no idea that these veggies and herbs were cold hardy. But now I’m excited to plant all these and experience a new season of gardening.

🌱 October Planting Guide (Zones 7–9, Long Growing Season)
Cooler days = the perfect time to get winter crops started. Plant these now for harvests through fall and into early spring.

🥦 Vegetables
• Broccoli – Plant transplants now for winter harvest.
• Cauliflower – Start in rich, well-drained soil.
• Collard Greens – Tough + cold-hardy.
• Kale – Sweetens after frost.
• Chard – Bright leaves add color + nutrition.
• Lettuce – Looseleaf types thrive in cool temps.
• Spinach – Plant for steady harvests.
• Peas – Fall sowing for early spring pods.

🧄 Root + Bulb Crops

• Garlic – Plant cloves now for summer bulbs.
• Carrots – Direct sow for winter roots.
• Beets – Plant every 2 weeks for steady supply.
• Turnips – Fast-growing cold crop.
• Parsnip – Long season; harvest in late winter.
• Radishes – Quick 30-day crop.

🌿 Herbs
• Parsley – Cold-hardy biennial.
• Cilantro – Thrives in cool weather.
• Dill – Great for fall succession planting.

✨ October plantings now → fresh harvests deep into winter.

Had a great time at Spaceport Open House today. Fun time making our own paper rockets and sending it off into “space” with their rocket shooter device. The mad scientist assisting me in the video promised me my rocket would orbit around the sun …. but it would take 365 days.
Many displays of very cool drones of all sizes, military and civilian The military drones come in all kinds of sizes, weapons, cameras …. and each guarded by armed military security.
Our first time to the Spaceport and it was a great weather day for being outdoors. The drive out through Elephant Butte, eating Food Truck fare, doing a little dancing to the great music played by the DJ

It was a really fun day with my honey.

On September 27-28, people can fish without a fishing license. Enjoy the lakes or river and the fishing experience with your family.
And if you aren’t going to be eating your catch, remember to be gentle in how you hook, unhook and release your catch.

Mark your calendars, the New Mexico State Parks is participating in Free Fishing Weekend on September 27-28, 2025!

It's the perfect opportunity to get outdoors and cast a line. 🎣

All other fishing regulations, including bait restrictions and bag limits, still apply. For full fishing rules and regulations, visit the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish website: https://wildlife.dgf.nm.gov/
