The U.S. Department of Agriculture is advancing a plan to strip protections from 45 million acres of public land under the guise of "wildfire management." The argument is that we need to build roads to log the forest to save it. But the data tells a completely different story. 📊

The Reality Check:

Decades of spatial mapping and federal wildfire data reveal an undeniable truth: roughly 90% of human-caused wildfires start within just a half-mile of a road. 🚗🔥

Roads do not stop fires; they introduce them. They act as linear ignition corridors, bringing in hot exhaust pipes, dragging trailer chains, and more. When you slice open a pristine forest with a road, you remove the canopy. The sun beats down, the wind whips through, and the forest floor turns into a dry tinderbox.

A Voice From Within the Woods:

True proactive forest management doesn't mean spending taxpayer dollars to bulldoze logging roads into remote ecosystems. It means investing exactly where people and nature meet: the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI). 🏡🌳

Blairsville in a flash! 🚗🌲 Definitely worth the drive to check out Blairsville, Georgia when you're staying at the Perfectly Imperfect Cabin. Thank y'all for the awesome recommendations.

Taking the scenic route isn't a bad thing. Winding roads, roaring river views, and you can even enjoy a cozy lunch by the water! There’s nothing quite like a trip down the Ocoee Scenic Byway! 🚗💨
