Fitzgerald Manor is a spacious bed & breakfast nestled on 39 acres, located just five miles up from the northern shores of Lake Superior.
Mark & Becky Fitzgerald are the owners and hosts of Fitzgerald Manor.
Our dream to build and open a bed and breakfast started over 20 years ago. We bought our land here in Two Harbors and built our home with the intent of opening it as a bed and breakfast from the very beginning.
We each grew up in rural settings before going off to college. While both attending Macalester College, we met and fell in love. After graduating, we settled in St. Paul and started a family but after 20 years of city life, we felt northern Minnesota calling.
We purchased this land - which is only 40 miles from where Mark grew up - in 1998 and started construction in 2001. In 2004 we moved the family up and have slowly continued to work on the Manor. Boasting 10,000 square feet of space, it has been a true labor of love. Finally in 2016 we opened our bed & breakfast, and are anxiously awaiting your arrival to enjoy Fitzgerald Manor and everything that northern Minnesota has to offer!
In Becky's travels for work she has experienced many bed & breakfast's and from that, we designed and built Fitzgerald Manor. Most B&B's are converted from a home into a B&B resulting in layouts that feel cramped and unwelcoming. Fitzgerald Manor has large spacious bedrooms that each feature a king size bed with ample space to sit and enjoy the room outside of just being on the bed. The large common areas also allow you to spread out and enjoy yourself. Quiet solitude and reflection await you here at the manor.
With 10,000 square feet of space, the Manor features seven large private bedrooms each with their own private bathroom. All have wonderful king size beds, ceiling fans, Sonos sound system, and 32" smart TV's with DVD and free internet access.
The gourmet kitchen is available for your use with two large prep islands, a six burner double oven stove, and two full size refrigerators. There is plenty of space to enjoy including a sitting room, great room, sun room, dining room, and a huge library with books, games, DVD movies, and a karaoke machine to add to the fun.
The Manor has two attached porches. The south-east porch is open and covered to enjoy the views of the meadow, the grazing deer or the summer fire flies. The south-west porch is open for that barbecue feast and visiting around the picnic table.
Large groups are welcome with 6 additional twin size beds that can be set up in any of the bedrooms or the student study room. All of the sleeping areas are located on the 2nd floor with access to an elevator for those who cannot handle stairs. The five guest rooms that have walk-in showers are also ideal for those with limited mobility.
There is ample parking on blacktop.
For those who enjoy taking nature walks or hikes, we have two rustic walking trails throughout our 39 acres. We also have a large fire pit with many outdoor chairs available for your use. Plenty of outdoor games are also available - volleyball, badminton, bocce ball, corn hole, frisbees, hula hoops, with plans to add horseshoe pits in the future.
Like all true BnB’s we offer a wonderful homemade breakfast each morning and we reside on the third floor of the Manor. We are available to you as much or as little as desired. The Manor’s third floor is constructed to block noise so guest activities are not noticed.
