We've had quite a bit of interest in our September reservations, so we wanted to answer some of the questions we are getting here:

What is the minimum amount of nights: 2

What are check-in and check out times for September: 4:00 pm check-in; 12:00 pm check-out

What are the rates***:
- Lodge rooms: $180/night
- Two bedroom cabins: Range from $225-$300/night
- Three bedroom cabins: $375/night
- Four bedroom cabins: $450-505/night
- Six bedroom cabin: $690
***If you book a week, you get one night free (pay for 6)

Are the extra person charges the same as the summer: No - we will charge an additional $25 per person above what the cabin is rated for. Cabins are rated 2 per bedroom.

Will the pool be open: The pool will stay open through September 13. After that, we will turn off the heat and start shutting it down, but everything else will be available (park, beach, outdoor recreation, the lodge (limited hours and services), pickleball court, bikes, etc.).

We've got some news...September reservations are OPEN!

The fall on Boot Lake is one of our favorite times of year - the early morning fog over the glassy lake, the swans gliding across the smooth water, the golden tamaracks across the lake, the colors changing around the resort...it's beautiful and peaceful. We'd love to share that with you!

It's also a great time to visit Itasca, do some biking, fishing, exploring Park Rapids, or just cozying up and reading a book by the lake!

We're offering 2+ night stays in a select number of cabins throughout the month of September (Cabins 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 18, 19, 20, and the Lodge Room).

*Please note: The lodge will have limited hours and services and there will be no schedule of activities, but all water equipment will still be in the water and boat rentals still available.

August 29-Sept. 4: Cabin 7 & two Lodge Rooms*
Labor Day Weekend (September 4-7): Lodge Room

*Lodge rooms are Friday-Friday rental. All other cabins listed are Saturday-Saturday, unless otherwise noted. We require a three night minimum.

The gardens are finally getting planted today, along with lots of other last minute jobs. Can anyone spy the activity that is returning this year? There's a clue in one of the pictures! We're SO grateful for all of the amazing help we have here at Half Moon Trail. See you all soon!

Mary is still very involved in the beautiful gardens at Half Moon Trail and grows many of them herself in her plant room!

Every handful of years, there is an additional week between Memorial and Labor Day weekends. This happens in 2026, giving us an extra week for reservations!

Although reservations during this week are not re-bookable for the following year, it is a great time to try out Half Moon Trail, or come back for a visit.

We've started booking for that week (June 27-July 4) and cabins are filling up, but we still have several cabins left if you are looking for a vacation for summer of 2026.
