I got a text from a former guest tonight. He stayed with us first not long after I arrived. He really liked it here. He returned for a week when his job brought him back to the area. He text me asking if I had any rooms available for a few days. I told him that we would be closed until spring at least and he asked what happened he said he really liked it here. I told him that we would rise again and be better than ever.

Well people it's getting there I have 4 rooms that just have small issue and they will be up and going.
That will leave the 4 that needs lots of work. But it will give me 20 rooms up and going.
7 weeks WOW I set my sites high on what I was confident I could do if given the chance to run a motel. I accepted one that was a real challenge because of it being neglected by former managers. From long term dwellers here I heard stories about corporate not doing anything about issues. With seeing these rooms the night of my walk through assessment when I got my keys 7 weeks ago tonight I could see why all I seen was many neglected rooms with a few problems they could of fixed and a few rooms that carpet was taken out and some that were either gutted or partially gutted. I could see why corporate wouldn't help. What was rentable wasn't even remotely clean. Over time I have heard many stories that the people here saying they never seen the last couple of managers out working on rooms or working so late at night. I work when it's the coolest. I have to in order to make this work. A contractor family was doing a little work on apartments and some of the rooms painting floors walls plumbing they were a big help getting rooms ready for the last group that came through. We did 5 on the day they arrived the last 2 or 3 waited for their rooms. I was renting them faster than I was getting them ready. I was full for the next month they came on my 3rd week. I started with only 2 the first few days. I had a waiting list of 8 that wanted monthly so when the first group pulled out the beginning of 4th of July weekend I had people waiting to replace them starting immediately up until Friday. Got another room up and almost one that is only needing a door handle issue then there is one that needs a couple things piecing together another and cleaning out a room of a guest that just up and vanished. I have no idea what to do with everything. I like to believe he will make contact about his stuff. But those rooms will soon be ready . 4th of Last 4 needs contractors one of them we might be able to do. Know more tomorrow. I have 4 recently checked out rooms to clean that are available but more elections are headed this week and I am getting some great word of mouth advertising from a current guest who was here 2 years ago and is impressed by how it is now especially the cleanliness. He is bringing me business. And more coming. I can't believe all this has been in less than 2 months
