🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Clearing Your AC Condensate Lines
As summer temperatures pick up, your rooftop air conditioner works hard to pull moisture out of your rig's interior air.

The Fix: If you notice water dripping from your indoor ceiling shroud instead of running down the outside of your roof, your AC's condensate drain holes are likely clogged with dust or pine needles.

Pro-Tip: Head up your roof ladder safely, remove the plastic AC shroud, and look for the tiny weep holes at the bottom of the metal drain pan. A quick clearing with a zip-tie or a blast of compressed air ensures water flows where it should—completely outside your rig!

🍑 Rig-Friendly Recipe: Lazy 3-Ingredient Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
Want a sweet, warm dessert to share with your camp neighbors tonight? This classic "dump-style" cobbler takes under 5 minutes to prep and tastes amazing right out of the cast iron!

Ingredients:

2 (30 oz) cans sliced peaches in syrup

1 box yellow or white cake mix

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, sliced thin

Optional: A shake of cinnamon to taste

Instructions:

Lightly grease your 12-inch camp Dutch oven.

Pour the peaches (with syrup) evenly across the bottom. Sprinkle with cinnamon if you like!

Pour the dry cake mix evenly on top of the peaches. Do not stir!

Arrange your butter slices uniformly across the top of the cake mix.

Put the lid on. If cooking over charcoal briquettes, place roughly 10 hot coals underneath and 15 on top of the lid. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the fruit bubbles through and the cake top turns an absolute beautiful golden brown!

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Tending Your Water Heater Element
With warmer weather prompting daily showers, your RV's water heater is getting a serious workout.
The Fix: If you notice your hot water takes longer to recover than usual on shore power, your electric heating element might have calcium buildup.
Pro-Tip: Turn off your shore power, turn off your propane, let the tank cool completely, and pull the anode rod (or drain plug) to give the tank a good wand rinse. Clearing out those scale flakes once a summer keeps your showers nice and hot without putting extra strain on your heating element!

📜 Today in History (June 14th):

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Checking Your Water System After the Holiday Weekend
After a busy Memorial Day weekend of heavy water use, it’s a smart idea to give your rig's plumbing a quick once-over to prevent any mid-season surprises.
The Fix: Take a peek behind your water heater bypass valves and under your kitchen sink for any tiny, slow drips that might have developed under constant pressure.
Pro-Tip: If your internal water pump "cycles" (bumps on for a quick second when all faucets are shut tight), it means you have a slight drop in pressure. Check your outside city water inlet valve—sometimes a microscopic grain of sand gets caught in the screen, keeping the check-valve from sealing entirely. A quick rinse usually clears it up!

📜 Today in History (May 27th):
On this day in 1937, the iconic Golden Gate Bridge officially opened to pedestrian traffic in San Francisco, with over 200,000 people walking across it on opening day! It stands as a timeless masterpiece of West Coast engineering—and it paved the way for decades of incredible coastal road trips up and down Highway 101.

📅 Happening Today:

🧺 Coos Bay Downtown Farmers Market: Stroll down Central Avenue between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM to explore over 90 regional vendors packed with fresh farm-to-table treats, baked goods, and artisan crafts!

🧘 Yoga at the Museum: Roll out your mat at the Coos Art Museum from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM (Bring your own mat, $5 drop-in fee).

🏃‍♂️ Wild Wednesday Group Run: Lace up your sneakers and join the South Coast Running Club for a fun community jog starting at 6:00 PM behind the Prefontaine Mural on 2nd Street.

🎻 Coos Celtic Session: Head over to the cozy Wildflour Cafe from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM for an enchanting evening of traditional live Celtic music.

🍷 Uncorked at Restaurant O: Enjoy mid-week drinks, live tunes, and delicious bites from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

💡 Local Business Spotlight: Cafe
For a truly warm, local experience tonight, we are pointing our Wednesday spotlight toward the Wildflour Cafe in North Bend! Beyond their phenomenal scratch-made pastries, artisan sandwiches, and gourmet coffees during the day, they are hosting the Coos Celtic Session this evening. It’s an incredibly welcoming spot to grab a local beverage, enjoy some hearty food, and listen to talented local musicians play traditional tunes.

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Checking Your Water Pump
With full holiday crowds across the coast, water system safety is key to a smooth weekend.
The Fix: If you notice your internal water pump "cycling" (bumping on and off for a second when no faucets are open), you have a tiny pressure drop somewhere.
Pro-Tip: Check the outdoor city water inlet check valve first. Sometimes a tiny grain of sand from the campground hose lines gets stuck in the valve, causing pressure to slowly bleed backward. A quick push and flush fixes it in seconds!

📜 Today in History (May 24th):
On this day in 1883, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge officially opened to traffic, connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan for the very first time. It was considered a true engineering marvel of its era—much like the impressive engineering that goes into packing an entire luxury home into a 40-foot rolling rig!

📅 Happening Today:

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Dealing with Coastal Battery Drain Holiday weekends mean heavy accessory use—running those 12V fans, awnings, and water pumps all day can drain your house batteries faster than you think.

The Fix: Take a look at your battery terminals this morning for any white, fuzzy corrosion.

Pro-Tip: Clean any buildup off using a simple mixture of baking soda and warm water with an old toothbrush. Corrupted terminals cause high resistance, meaning your converter has to work twice as hard to charge them back up. Keep them clean to keep your power steady!

📜 Today in History (May 23rd): On this day in 1934, the notorious bank-robbing duo Bonnie and Clyde met their end in an ambush by law enforcement in Louisiana. While they were famous for their fast-paced getaway cars, we prefer a much more relaxing, law-abiding cruise down the 101 in our rigs!

📅 Happening Today: * 🥩 BBQ, Blues, Brews & Bourbon on the Bay: Head over to the Ko-Kwel Casino Resort from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM for an epic outdoor festival featuring incredible food, cold craft beers, and top-tier competition barbecue pits!

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Pre-Weekend Shore Power Check
With parks filling up for the holiday weekend, your rig's electrical system will be working overtime.
The Fix: Before you flip your AC on today, use a digital multimeter or a surge protector with an LED readout to check the campground pedestal's voltage.
Pro-Tip: If the voltage drops below 105 Volts when your neighbors turn on their air conditioners, it can damage your AC compressor and microwave. Using a quality EMS (Electrical Management System) surge protector is the best way to safeguard your appliances during high-occupancy holiday weekends!

📜 Today in History (May 22nd):
On this day in 1843, the first major wagon train set out on the Oregon Trail from Independence, Missouri, carrying a thousand pioneers toward the Pacific Northwest. We like to think of our current community as the modern, much comfier version of those early cross-country road-trippers!

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Checking Your Water Pressure Regulator
We have excellent, steady water pressure here at the park, but as you travel up and down the coast, plumbing safety should always come first!
The Fix: Always connect an external brass water pressure regulator directly to the park spigot before hooking up your fresh water hose.
Pro-Tip: Unregulated city water inlets at some campgrounds can spike well over 60 PSI, which can burst your rig's internal PEX lines or cause hidden leaks behind your shower and sink cabinets. Save yourself a headache and use a regulator every single time you hook up!

📜 Today in History (May 21st):

🛠️ RV Fix-It Tip: Mid-Season AC Check
With temperatures gradually warming up for peak season, don't wait for a sweltering afternoon to test your cooling system.
The Fix: Pull down your indoor air conditioning shroud and check your return filters.
