Spring is just around the bend of the river here at Hoquiam River RV Park. We couldn't have asked for a better couple of days to welcome Cascadia R. V. W. to the park for the weekend. Lots of sunshine and activities to enjoy and forget the cold, rainy winter; whether it was taking a walk along our hiking trails, sitting around a picnic table playing dominos, putting together a puzzle in our relaxing club house, or just reading a good book. Looks like they had a great time.

It’s with great sadness that we report the passing of long-time resident Doyle Murphy. Just before 6:00 AM this past Sunday morning, the Hoquiam Fire Department responded to an RV fire at his RV in our park. Tragically, Doyle did not survive the fire.
Doyle had been a resident of Hoquiam and HRRVP for many years. Being half Irish and half Scottish, St. Patrick’s Day would find Doyle dressed in his kilt handing out gold chocolate coins to youngsters. (See photo)
He is fondly remembered by many park residents for his quick smile and his friendliness. He loved to sit on the front porch of the park office and talk about the many adventures he had around the world in his 91 years. He will be sorely missed.
There are several simple steps that can be taken by RV owners to protect themselves. Think Safety!
1. Have working smoke detectors in your RV and periodically check to make sure they are working properly.
2. Check for propane leaks. Have a propane leak detector in your RV.
3. Have fire extinguishers handy in several places in your RV.
4. Know where your escape routes are in case of emergency and make a plan accordingly.
