As of today, Colonial Woods has raised $10,477.50 towards Shriners Hospital for Children and we still have a few big weekends to go – including our upcoming Labor Day Auction! The generosity of our camping families in their time, goods, and monetary donations is truly amazing. For Labor Day weekend, we have several fundraising opportunities where donations are needed.
BASKETS OF CHEER: It isn’t Labor Day without the ever-popular Basket of Cheers. Tickets for the baskets will start being sold soon for $1.00 each. This year's non alcoholic basket will once again be themed as Family Camping Fun with sweets, treats and family fun. Donations are needed for both baskets – please drop off your donations at the lodge. The alcoholic basket of cheer will be in a 75 gallon, resin outdoor storage box and the family camping fun will be in an ottoman. Help us fill them both.
LABOR DAY DRAWINGS: This year, we are selling chances for several awesome drawings. Donations include:
·Yeti Cooler ($2.00 per ticket or 3 for $5.00)
·5 in 1 Super Cart ($2.00 per ticket or 3 for $5.00)
·Weber Smoky Mountain Smoker ($10 per ticket)
·2 Seater Camping Chair With Umbrella ($3 per ticket)
·Handmade Electric Wire Spool Chair ($3 per ticket)
OUR SILENT AUCTION: As we continue to make our auction successful we are asking for baskets of new items and/or gift cards. Already completed baskets are ideal, but we will have a limited number of baskets available to be made up. We are also collecting lottery tickets and/or gift cards for one larger raffle of a Lottery/gift card Shadow box, if you would like to contribute please drop your donation off in the lodge. Basket donations can start to be dropped off at the lodge August 16th but are preferred to be received no later than Sunday, August 23rd. If that is not possible, then we ask that you provide a description of your item(s), your name, and a general value of the goods by Sunday, August 30th and then bring your items no later than 8:00 PM, Friday, September 4th so that we can begin set up and get the ticket boxes together. When dropping off your items please try to include a description of your item, your name and approximate value.
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed on Sunday to sell raffle tickets and auction chances, monitor tables and run baskets to lucky winners. Setting up tables and building ticket boxes will be on Saturday. If you have an hour or two to give, we would greatly appreciate it. A sign-up sheet will be available in the lodge so that volunteers can sign up for specific time slots based around your family's availability.
Looking forward to seeing our final 2026 fundraising numbers at the end of this camping season. Our success depends on each and everyone of you, we thank you all.
Best regards, Leslie MacNichol and Hope McCabe
