Camp Vandemere Nestled on the banks of the Bay River, Camp Vandemere is owned and operated by the Eastern Conference of Original Free Will Baptist. God is Good!!!

Founded in 1967, the original property consisted of 4.89 acres at a cost of $10,000.00. On November 22, 1987, a symbolic note burning was held during the camp dedication celebration service. During the first several years of operation, the campers were housed in tents. In 1974, the dorm rooms and the kitchen/dining hall, which served about 120 people, were completed! Hurricane Irene struck August 26-27, 2011, devastating the campground and facilities, and the community of Vandemere. In fact, much of eastern NC suffered destruction from the storm’s high winds, heavy rains, and huge storm surge which caused heavy flooding. Two weeks prior to the storm, the last week of Summer Camp had ended on Aug. 11th. Summer Camp Weeks continued in 2012 & 2013, but because the dorms were destroyed, camps had to be shortened to 3 nights. Because of individuals loaning their RV’s, and Home Missions of OFWB & NC Baptist Men loaning bunk units, we didn’t have to sleep in tents! NC Baptist Men also loaned their mobile kitchen, and meals were served outside unless it rained. Then meals were served in the Chapel which served as a multi-purpose building; Chapel, Lobby/Lounge area, Game Room, and Dining Room. Classes were held outside on the piers and other areas. We now have a total of 36 acres, on both sides of Third Street.

Wednesday's and Saturdays With Uganda and Wednesdays and Sunday Evening Session at Camp Vandemere: Zoom online and LIVE in the Chapel.

Pastor Edwin Roman delivered a sermon titled
"The Master Swordsman" as part of a series on
"The Sword of the Spirit" from Ephesians 6.
He explained that the spiritual sword mentioned in scripture is not a physical weapon but the Word of God, specifically the "rhema" word which is living and active. Pastor used Matthew 15 and Revelation 1-2 to demonstrate how Jesus used the sword of the Spirit, showing that the sword comes from God's mouth and has great power to strike nations and overcome spiritual strongholds. He emphasized that believers must stand strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, using the Word of God as their primary weapon against temptation, addiction, and spiritual attacks.
Pastor stressed that the sword of the Spirit is powerful enough to deliver from all bondages and that believers should speak God's Word out loud regularly, as Jesus did, to exercise this spiritual authority.
He discussed the Sword of the Spirit some more from Ephesians 6, emphasizing that it is not a new weapon but one that Jesus has already used. He explained that strongholds can include addictions or people who control someone's life, and emphasized that one must trust in God alone regardless of others' opinions. Pastor taught that the Sword of the Spirit belongs to God and is given to believers to use, encouraging them to pray to the Holy Spirit for understanding and to stand in God's power and might.
