Clay County Park We're located outside Vermillion, SD along the banks of the Missouri River. Summers feature fun educational programs for all, free to the public.

Located four miles southwest of Vermillion off Highway 50, is situated on the last natural stretch of the Missouri River. Enjoy 34 acres of pristinely preserved parklands of the vast and beautiful wilderness with breathtaking v

iews. You will find camping facilities with electricity, restroom and shower facilities, several picnic areas, playgrounds and a boat launching area. Special features include volleyball courts, horseshoe court and three miles of paved nature trails that accommodates walking, bicycling and horseback riding. The nature trail showcases the vast diversity of the beautiful plant and wildlife and has a lookout area over the beautiful Missouri River.

We have 2 great new tenants in our monthly camping area, leaving room for only 1 more. Monthly is $600, with on-site septic, electric and water hookups. This is a super nice, peaceful area north of main campground, nestled in between a shady grove of trees and crop land with hiking trails. Multi-month stays are welcome through the end of season. Clay County Park is excited to announce that we are will be opening a small North Campground near the Day Use area where you may have seen a camper before.🎉

We call this the North Campground and it has 3 spots available: A, B, and C. These three sites will have septic, electric, and water. This season we are pricing these at $600 a month and we are open to having people using these sites for the season (1 month minimum).

Please BEAR with us as we finish up improvements at the campground. We're almost done with infrastructure work on the bathhouse and are also installing an awesome NEW playset. Huge thanks to SD GFP for their invaluable assistance with both projects. The park is in bloom, and the weather's amazing! We hope to see you soon. (Don't forget the 2026 River Honoring Ceremony on Sunday, June 14, from 5-9:00!)

We're excited to announce openings for (2) at-large positions on the CCP Board. The board meets on third Thursdays at 5:30 for 1-2 hours. Each member serves on 1-2 committees and volunteer an additional 6-10 hours each year to help with various cleanup projects, painting picnic tables, clearing brush, etc. Each seat serves a 3-year term. If you enjoy Clay County Park and are looking for a great way to volunteer, this might be perfect for you.

đź“Ł Clay County Park Campground is open for the 2026 season. This campground is the perfect little place under trees to get away from the hustle and bustle. We have several RV and tent sites as well as one cabin.

The multi use park and the nearby town of Vermillion have a lot to offer.

If you’re a vacationer, just traveling through, or coming to town for special events like USD graduation, we recommend spending the night at the campground. 🏕️
