​We’re excited to share that the Baer House Inn was named Mississippi Magazine’s Best of Mississippi M-List Travelers! We are so, so excited about this! 🎉🏆
​We want to send out a huge thank you to the amazing staff, the city of Vicksburg, our wonderful guests, and all of our family and friends who continuously voted for us. This is such a major accomplishment for us, especially within our very first year of opening, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Step back in time with a piece of Vicksburg history!
​Did you know that during the mid-1800s, Vicksburg was home to a thriving Jewish business community? By 1866, the city boasted 35 Jewish-owned stores and nearly 90 Jewish families who played a pivotal role in shaping the town's local economy and culture.
​One of those inspiring stories belongs to Lazarus (Leona) Baer. After starting his career in the 1850s as a traveling peddler, he opened a dry goods store in Vicksburg in 1865 following the Civil War. Joined by his brothers, Isaac and Abe, they built a successful family enterprise known as Baer & Brothers Dry Goods.
​In 1870, Lazarus and his wife, Leona, built their grand Eastlake Victorian home on Grove Street. Today, that legacy lives on at The Baer House Inn—standing proud on the National Register of Historic Places and welcoming guests on the Vicksburg Heritage Walking Trail! 🌹
