Did you know just how deep the history runs at the Baer House? 📜✨
​We always talk about the incredible 1870 Eastlake Victorian architecture, but have you ever wondered how long the original family actually called this beautiful place home?
​The Baer family occupied this house for a stunning 54 years!
​Lazarus and Leona Baer completed their massive post-Civil War remodel in 1870, transforming the property into a high-society masterpiece filled with rich black walnut, chestnut, and mahogany. From that moment on, they raised their children here, hosted Vicksburg’s upper echelon in the grand parlors, and built a legacy as prominent local merchants.
​The family's era at the home officially spanned more than half a century, concluding when Lazarus passed away in 1924.
​When you walk through our doors today, you aren't just walking into a bed and breakfast—you're stepping right into 54 years of continuous family history, love, drama (ask us about daughter Sarah's famous $5 will story sometime! 😉), and Vicksburg resilience.
