You’ve probably seen this barn before. But do you know its story?

The T.A. Moulton Barn on Mormon Row has become one of the most photographed buildings in the country, with the Tetons creating a pretty spectacular backdrop.

T.A. Moulton began building the barn in 1913, originally as a simple shelter for horses. Over the next 30+ years, he continued adding to it, creating the structure that still stands today.

It’s a beautiful piece of Grand Teton history and a reminder that some of the park’s best-known views have stories worth learning.

One hundred and ten years ago, the country decided places like this were worth keeping wild forever.

The National Park Service turns 110 today. Grand Teton has stood a whole lot longer, but the promise to keep it open to everyone is the part worth celebrating.
Entrance is free today for U.S. residents, so if the Tetons have been on your list, this is your day to go.
