Happy Halloween everybody!
I am so touched and humbled by all the likes, hearts, and prayers from my last post, that I want to send you all Christmas gifts. I've made up a little wall calendar
with photos that (mostly) I took over the past year of nature, local scenery, and a couple of my guests here @ VB B&B.
(assisted by easycanvasprints.com)
I can't see the future too well, but I hope to keep in touch with you. Just put your address by your name in the comments section, or you can message me directly,
that might be better...if you want to make a donation to help pay for the calendar or the other work I'm doing here it will be much appreciated, but not at all necessary. I'll talk again soon. We've got a beautiful Halloween evening here in Virginia Beach,
so I need to run out and get some candy!

Well, it still exists, in theory, on the books at city hall, this Virginia Beach Bed and Breakfast...but in reality, I just have a couple of good friends living with me now, who happen to be single mothers, with adorable toddlers, ages 2 and 3. So with the 5 of us plus Sunny (dog) and Silverback (cat), it's kind of a full house...
There is one other "graduate" living in Hampton, who helps us with baby-sitting and drives my Hyundai with license plates reading "VB B&B"...she is also a single mother who helped me during the 1st 2 years as a co-host.

So I don't know where this is going, but I like cleaning the floors and supplying paper goods and occasional dishwashing I do for these ladies and their kids.

I really have no idea about the future, just living day-to-day. I know I'm going broke
real fast, but my full-time job only pays $16/hour, and I never complain about that,
but I may be a little bit overextended (lol).

I'll just shut up now, nothing more to say.

Good morning. There have been so many changes over the past couple of years, partially because of the pandemic, that we don't operate the way we used to, as a sort of mini-hotel, with lots of short-term guests
coming and going. I have taken a serious interest in the care and well-being of 3 single mothers and their children, all of whom were at one time or are currently guests of the VB B & B. So that makes me kind of a father/grandfather figure to these
struggling families, as well as just a good friend, and it's a job I enjoy greatly, especially since I never had any children of my own.

But we still have short-term guests, it's just more of a word-of-mouth, family and friends type situation.

Virginia Beach is a wonderful place to visit,
so many nice parks and restaurants in addition to the long and incredible beach.
It's also a great place to work and raise a
family, with a great school system and
in my experience, a safe and healthy cultural environment.

So we're kind of fully occupied/booked right now, but I just wanted to say hello to the good people who occasionally glance at this page...I haven't forgotten you, we're just going thru some changes and not too sure where we'll be 6 months from now.
But I will continue to pay the business taxes, and try to post here every once in awhile.

Hi! After 1 1/2 years of hosting guests from Airbnb and 1 or 2 other booking sources, we stopped public service in mid-March due to the pandemic and my own exhaustion. I don't know if we will open up again in the same way, it certainly won't be for a year or more, until the coronavirus is dealt with effectively.

Human beings are trying to minimize close physical contact with each other all over the planet, and with good reason. I am 69 years old and quite healthy,
but I still count every day as a blessing and a gift from God, and I listen very carefully to the health care experts and public officials as to how to behave and protect my health and others too.

I still want to be a sociable, friendly person, and try to help people whenever I can.

I have started a blog and casual coffee invitation;
you can follow my thoughts and activities and experiences @ Keisha's Coffee Shop (FB page),
or Wiggins (my personal FB page).

Good luck to everyone, and a special thanks to those guests from all over the world who came to stay here at 609 Abbey Drive for a few days or weeks over the last 2 years.

Godspeed.

We are in a period of dormancy here at VB B&B,
and transition. Sort of like a dream, where alot of things seem magical, don't make sense, but not a nightmare, kind of a nice dream.

Get plenty of rest, and pray that this Corona-virus will pass.

Best wishes from me, Mr. David, and Lakeisha,
my wonderful co-host.

Mother's Day will be here soon. We are blessed to have two beautiful young single mothers staying here at VB B&B, and one small child who is here often by a shared custody situation. My mother passed away many years ago, and my wife 7 years ago, but they are always in my heart. Isn't it nice that Mother's Day comes in May, when all the roses are blooming, at least here in Virginia!

I just want to say hello to the people who read my posts to this page, as rare as they are. As you can imagine, the Corona-virus pandemic has changed everything in the hospitality industry and we are no exception. Currently there are two long-term guests/tenants staying here, one with a 2 year-old baby. They don't pay rent, one because she got laid off, and one because she has medical issues/bills.
But they are good company, and that's at least half the reason I started this business. I am not accepting any bookings for the future right now, and even unlisted my rooms @ Airbnb. For me, it's not time to try and make money, it's time to clean and
socially isolate and pray for loved ones and try to keep my regular 40-hour job delivering nuclear medicine.

The future is very uncertain but as usual I am very optimistic...on a local, national, and international level I see good human beings everywhere showing their good natures by pulling together to fight this horrible menace and get back to some kind of normal situation, if there is such a thing.

What exactly constitutes "sociable behavior" is changing daily and I have no idea where we will be 2 years from now. But this extreme uncertainty gives us a great opportunity to use our minds and our creativity to create some new realities.

So please hang in there, don't give up, and if you want to contact me for any reason, my e-mail is [email protected], or you can message me thru my personal page. Thank you.

Just a short message today... I apologize (again) for not posting very often. We are doing very well,
and are fully booked with excellent guests who are all staying on a bi-weekly basis, into the indefinite future.

My wonderful co-host Lakeisha is still helping me,
and like me, she works a full-time job with crazy hours in addition to helping me keep our guests happy.

My faithful terrier friend Sunny, despite cataracts and 13 years old, provides excellent security alarm service and good humor.

There are changes on the way, improvements, but I don't want to talk about them until they are sure things.

It's Saturday morning, and most folks here are sleeping peacefully I believe, and happily. Since a good night's sleep is our main product/service we offer, I have chosen a "company song", in place of a company motto or philosophy:

"Dream a Little Dream of Me", either by the Mamas and the Papas, Louis Armstrong, or Michael Buble.

This morning I'm going with Louis Armstrong, just love the trumpet and his soulful voice.

I hope you have a wonderful day, and even if you can't stay with us right now, please come to visit the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area sometime...so many fine beaches, parks, restaurants, and entertainment, not to mention the history. Summer will be here soon!!! YAY!!!

Make no mistake about it, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, etc. We do expect our guests to be slightly civil and peaceful in nature, and in turn we try to be as friendly and helpful to you 😊 as we possibly can.

Hello, greetings for the new year!
We are transforming into largely month-to-month rentals here and already 2 of the 3 bedrooms are rented that way to start the new year, to excellent people, I might add.

We still have the master bedroom with private bath/shower available at $800/month, with a discount (to 700) for single moms, veterans/active duty, or struggling young people. You can find us on the Roomster app, Airbnb, or text me (757-334-8858)
or Lakeisha (757-567-2254) with serious interest.

I am still happy to fix breakfast for people on the weekends, and Krispy Kreme donuts just seem to appear by the dozen on the kitchen table from time to time.

I plan to transform the garage into a mini-paradise-studio for myself, and the insulation is well underway, with plans for a shower/bath in there to be hatched fairly soon. That will give everybody more space.

We will also have a nice vegetable garden next summer, with fresh tomatoes and squash for guests who like to cook!

And don't forget the Beach! There are whale watching tours thru January by the Aquarium,
and so many good restaurants and nice parks.

Come see us!!

I apologize again for not posting here very often...my life here in Virginia Beach is very wonderful, and often Facebook is the last thing on my mind. Today I am posting photos from Oak Grove Lake Park in neighboring Chesapeake, where you can take a beautiful 40 minute walk and be totally refreshed and energetic as a result.

I have 3 wonderful guests in the house this weekend, and I would love to take their photos and post them on here, but I think one thing nice about my house is the privacy, it's very peaceful and quiet, most of the time. So I don't bother my guests to take their photos.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza,
and Happy holidays to everybody celebrating the season... I hope you get some time off from work!!

Mr. David

I apologize for not posting much on this page lately. We are going thru many changes and often I'm just not sure what to say. For one thing, I am trying to move more toward monthly rentals as opposed to the 1-3 night visits typical with the Airbnb community. So I have registered 2 bedrooms with the Roomster app, and already have one "long-term" guest, which makes my life a little bit easier and less stressful. One room will continue to be available for short visits, so we are still listed with Airbnb. I will continue to offer fresh coffee and pastries of some kind every morning, and omelettes, bacon and orange juice on the weekends as requested.

Since my business license is for short-term rentals,
I may have to re-organize/rebrand in the near future.
But for now we're keeping the same name, we're open for business, and please contact me by e-mail if the Airbnb app or the Roomster app don't work for you. We try to be very flexible and help visitors, tourists, and travelers of every kind whenever we can.

I am still blessed to have Lakeisha staying here as my co-host, and she has gone "vegan" on us, so maybe I can follow her lead and improve my diet!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and please keep us in mind if you're traveling to Virginia Beach or somewhere close by here in Tidewater/Hampton Roads.
