This past weekend, guests of the Francis Brown Club stepped onto the Lanai for the first installment of Chef Rhoda’s Table, framed by golden-hour hues along the Kohala Coast.

Chef Rhoda Magbitang and guest DUYEN HA of Bravo Top Chef Season 23 reunited for a five-course dinner weaving together the flavors of Hawaiʻi, Vietnam, the Philippines and the Carolinas. From shokupan with wagyu and caviar to chilled canh chua soup and Kahuku corn chawanmushi with Alaskan king crab, the evening was a beautiful expression of shared culinary perspective.

The series continues on October 17 with Sake Master Stuart Morris and December 12 with Chef Laurence Louie.

We kicked off summer with Chefs Rhoda Magbitang, Oscar Diaz, Brittany Cochran and Sieger Bayer of Bravo Top Chef Season 23. Now, they’re coming back for one night only on Saturday, August 29.

Rooted in Hawaiʻi’s backyard kānikapila tradition, the reunion moves from kitchen to shoreline, with a whole pig roasting, island fare from each chef, local musicians playing into sunset and plenty of time to talk story.
