Today before opening, we set out on early morning waterfall adventure! A short hike up the hill is usually accompanied by a low frequency hum that grows louder as you ascend. Today it was different... eerily quiet.
The drop in water levels became apparent with the trees bare.
Rocks, usually covered by flowing water, lay visible exposing the polished, water smoothed stone. Currently EXTREME DROUGHT is a very real thing in the U.P.!! Please, everyone be mindful of water usage and conserve where ever you can.

The temperature this month is an average of 20º warmer than normal. The leafless trees combined with the warm weather might leave us questioning what season it really is.

VERY disappointing news!! Whomever the culprits are, for whatever reason it was stolen, do what is right! The sign needs to be returned.
If you know something, say something AND SPEAK UP!! Our state parks are a vital resource to our communities and the tourism that funds them. Please don't be a contributor to this selfish act of theft and vandalism.

A few reminders when putting out decorations this season.

🎃 Did you know that Halloween can bring toil and trouble for birds?
Autumn is here, and while we’re decorating with gourds and ghouls, birds are navigating one of the busiest and most challenging times of year. Fall migration brings millions of birds through our neighborhoods, where they can encounter hazards including window collisions, artificial light, and toxic pesticides.
Help make your yard more treat than trick for birds this Halloween. Skip the fake spider webs outdoors, which can entangle birds and other wildlife. Treat your windows with decals, exterior screens, bird tape, or other methods that make glass more visible and reduce collisions. Avoid toxic garden chemicals, which can harm birds directly and reduce the insects and other food sources they rely on. And turn off unnecessary outdoor lights at night, which can disorient migrating birds and increase the risk of collisions.
