Trail Update – Some of the trails at Pembina Gorge State Park are now open!

As we make the transition from spring to summer, pockets of green are beginning to appear throughout the gorge, making it a beautiful time to get outside and explore. Come out and enjoy the scenery, fresh air, and the start of another great season on the trails!

Open Trails:
-Three Sisters
- Trapper’s Ridge
- Leghold Loop
- Elkspoor (north half)
- Lady Slipper Loop (non-motorized)
- Blazing Star Loop (non-motorized)

Closed Trails (for now):
- Fisher's Descent
- Whitetail Alley
- Beaver Pond Pass

Reminder! If you’re eager to be among the first to camp at Pembina Gorge State Park, reservations are now open! The first official day of camping is on June 9.

Visit reserveNDparks.com to get familiar with the campground, which includes modern sites with electricity and water hookups as well as premium sites with electricity, water and sewer. Primitive tent campers can enjoy secluded cart-in sites that are tucked in the trees near a scenic overlook.

The campground is equipped with vault toilets and an RV dump station. Some construction will continue this season as we complete the new comfort station.

As we've looked back through construction photos, it's been incredible to watch this park take shape. In celebration of the opening of North Dakota's 14th state park, campsite fees at Pembina Gorge State Park are marked down 14% for the season.

Visitors are encouraged to map out their trips now and secure their preferred sites and dates once reservations become available tomorrow, May 5 at 7 am CST. The park features the following site types:

Rendezvous Loop
Premium (Sites 16-20): electricity, water and sewer
Modern: electricity and water
Modern Group: electricity and water, with the ability to have two units

Longline Loop
Primitive: Five walk-in tent sites (P1-P5) provide great shade and privacy

We look forward to welcoming visitors for our first season of camping, beginning on June 9!

Be among the first to camp at North Dakota’s newest state park!

Campsite reservations for Pembina Gorge State Park open Tuesday, May 5, with the park officially opening for camping on June 9. As the first OHV campground in the state park system, it will feature larger camping pads and designated trailer parking areas. Explore rugged terrain, forested hills, and miles of trails perfect for hiking, mountain biking, OHV and horseback riding.

Join us June 3 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. for a special dedication celebration featuring guided hikes, park tours, and family-friendly activities, including the first s’mores made at the park.

Some construction will continue this season as we complete the new comfort station/storm shelter. The improvements are scheduled for completion later this year and are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the visitor experience.
