A tragic incident took place last night in our area. An officer and another person were involved in a foot pursuit that ended with the person being shot and killed. The officer was injured and needed to be air lifted to a hospital.

This incident started approximately 1 mile from us and concluded just to the north of us.

The officer, when calling for help, said “Bayside Resort” as a reference for the other officers who were responding. There is not any other connection to us, despite what it shows in the pictures and press coverage.

We are all safe and are saying prayers for the person who died, the officer who was injured, their families and our community as a whole.

🚨 Important Update: Fireworks Postponed 🚨

Due to the incoming severe weather, we've made the decision to postpone tonight's fireworks in Walker to tomorrow, July 5th. Your safety is our top priority, and we want everyone to enjoy the show under clear skies.

Fireworks will be launched off the lake at Walker City Park. Viewable by land or lake. 10pm(dusk)
— The Rotary fish fry/beer garden unfortunately will not be able to host due to circumstances out of our control.
