The Walker area is once again preparing to proudly welcome warriors and their families to Hiawatha Beach Resort for the annual Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Weekend, taking place September 25–27.

Gifted by the generosity of the community and hosted by Hiawatha Beach Resort, this special weekend brings together warriors, their families and Wounded Warrior Project staff for a weekend focused on rest, connection, encouragement and support.

Last year, approximately 125+ warriors, family members and WWP staff gathered at Hiawatha Beach Resort to enjoy a memorable weekend filled with fishing, golfing, horseback riding, trap shooting, wagon rides and various family-friendly activities. Just as importantly, the weekend provided an opportunity for warriors and their families to connect with WWP representatives, learn about available programs and services, reconnect with loved ones and build new friendships with other military families.

For many who attend, the Wounded Warrior Project Weekend is much more than a weekend away. It is an opportunity to relax, have fun, find encouragement and spend meaningful time with others who understand their experiences.

Once again, the event would not be possible without the incredible generosity of the Walker area and surrounding communities. Local businesses, organizations, churches, families and individuals have continued to come together year after year by donating supplies, activities, food, services and their time to help make this weekend special for the warriors and their families.

As we prepare for this year’s event, we are once again reaching out to our wonderful community for support. Donations of raffle items, goods, services or gift certificates would be greatly appreciated. A raffle will be held on Saturday evening for all Wounded Warrior Project attendees, giving the warriors and their families another opportunity to enjoy a fun and memorable evening together.

Those who would like to donate or volunteer their time are warmly encouraged to be part of this special weekend. Every contribution, whether large or small, helps make a difference and shows our appreciation to the warriors and families who have given so much.

Hiawatha Beach Resort and the Local Wounded Warrior Project are deeply grateful for the many people and organizations who have supported this event in the past. The continued kindness and generosity of our community is what makes a weekend like this possible, and we are honored to once again come together to welcome these families to the Walker area.

The 2026 Wounded Warrior Project Weekend will take place September 25–27 at Hiawatha Beach Resort. We look forward to another meaningful weekend of friendship, laughter, connection and support.

Together, we are honored to once again say thank you to the warriors and families who have given so much for our country.

To donate a raffle item, contribute to the event or volunteer your time, please contact Hiawatha Beach Resort at 218-547-1510 or Tony Sauer at 218-839-1769. Your support is truly appreciated and helps make this special weekend possible.
