The Badlands didn’t always have “National Park” status — here’s the timeline:

📍 1929 — The area was authorized as Badlands National Monument.
📍 1939 — It was officially established as a National Monument by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
📍 1978 — It officially became Badlands National Park.
