Closing the Barn Doors at River Run Camp
For the past twenty years, summer roads led to Warren and River Run Camp. In the spring of 2002, dear friends and dedicated volunteers helped us remove milking stations from our barn, brush hog a path through the hay field to the waterfront and build a swim float to put in the river. River Run Camp was launched!
The memories of all those summers are sweet and abundant. Intense games of Sprout Ball and Capture the Flag, passionate matches of Ruler of the Water Mat and Mafia on the water trampoline, and Senior Week sing-offs and late-night whipped cream raids have created life-long remembrances for the hundreds of campers and amazing staff members who have been part of our community.
However, we always knew that this day would come. It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to you and announce the closing of River Run Camp. It is bittersweet for us as we excitedly look forward to summer opportunities that will become available to us. And yet, we will miss the depth of genuine experiences, words, moments, and joys that we’ve shared with children, parents, and staff throughout all these years.
As we reflect on it all, we are deeply appreciative for the inspiring staff members, engaging and playful campers and loyal camp parents who entrusted their children to us over the last 20 years. We are overflowing with heartfelt gratitude for so much and to so many with whom we have shared this journey. We will miss you.
Love,
Stuart and Jane
