We were so honored when Pat and Erin asked us to be the home for Solgrass Music Festival 🤍
It’s hard to put into words how much this event has meant to Mike, me, and so many of you. Each year brought its own magic, incredible music, and unforgettable people and we’re truly grateful for every moment.
While we’re saddened to see this chapter come to a close, we’re thankful for the memories and excited to see what the future holds ✨
After five really special years, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Sol Grass Music Festival.
This wasn’t an easy call. Sol Grass has been a huge part of our lives, and we know it’s become a meaningful tradition for many of you too. We’re truly sorry for the lack of communication while we took the time to sit with this and figure out the right path forward.
Over the years, this became so much more than a festival. It took on a life of its own. We’ve watched it hold birthdays, marriage proposals, a wedding, tattoos, Sol Grass babies, and even become a place to remember and honor loved ones who are no longer with us. That is something we will never take for granted.
Sol Grass has always been produced and organized by us, Pat and Erin, through Backroads Events. At this time, we’re stepping back from event production. We want to be very clear about one thing. Washington Island Campground has been an incredible host, but they were not involved in running or organizing the festival. We simply rented the space, and this decision is entirely ours. They’ve been nothing but supportive partners, and we care deeply about making sure their reputation stays strong.
We also want to thank the Lions Club, Island Orchard Cider, Brian Flannigan, Washington Island Ferry, The Point Grille and Island Adventure Company, Jackson Harbor Soup Company, Door County Brewing, and all of our devoted friends and family for their support over the years. You’ve all been an important part of what made this event possible.
We know this weekend brings important business to the campground and the surrounding community. If you’re able, we’d really encourage you to keep your reservations and still make the trip. Kayla and Mike are amazing people who pour a lot into that place, and your support matters more than ever right now.
For those who purchased tickets, refunds will be issued in May. We are currently working through vendor settlements and appreciate your patience as we complete that process.
More than anything, we just want to say thank you. For showing up, for dancing, and for building something that felt real and connected. Sol Grass was never just an event. It was all of you.
We’ll carry that with us for a long time.
