Breakfast 8am-11am Mon-Fri, 9am-12pm Sat & Sun. Pub w/ light bites open 11am-1pm M-F, 4pm-9pm M-Sa. Once a stagecoach stop, now a beautifully restored village inn and pub in downtown Waterbury, known for outdoor recreation and a fabulous food and craft beer scene. Many restaurants and pubs are within walking distance. Minutes from skiing, mountain biking, hiking, paddling, fly fishing and more. Extravagant breakfast, fiber wifi, and onsite parking included. Great for families and small groups, or for remote "workcations." Each room is unique - choose a room in the main building for more historic decor, or opt for one of our more contemporary suites which offer small kitchens and seating areas. As you wind down from your day's activities, grab one of our daily cookies and a beverage from the pub, a game or book from the parlor, and relax with friends new and old by our fire in winter or on our lovely porch and deck in warmer months. Stick Season Stitches Knitting Retreat

November 13–15, 2026 · Old Stagecoach Inn

It’s time to unwind, both your yarn and yourself! Our 4th annual Stick Season Stitches retreat at Old Stagecoach Inn in Waterbury, VT, brings knitters together for a weekend of relaxation, community, fabulous food, and of course, knitting.

This year: Brioche!

You asked, we listened. Based on feedback from last year’s attendees, 2026’s project focuses on Brioche knitting. You know, that technique you’ve always wanted to try but felt a little intimidated by? Here’s your chance to learn it in a warm, supportive setting where mistakes are easy to fix, and long-term friendships are made.

More than a class

Stick Season Stitches is just as much about slowing down and connecting. Kick things off with a dessert and cocktail reception Friday evening, enjoy an optional spa treatment with w**e and cheese on Saturday, tour a local cheesemaker, and settle in for plenty of unhurried knitting time with good company.

Your weekend includes:

Friday dessert & cocktail reception

Saturday lunch and Saturday evening w**e & cheese

Brioche technique class with ongoing coaching all weekend

Project materials (yarn and pattern)

Tour of a local cheesemaker

Souvenir yarn and swag

Optional: 50-minute spa service; choose a head, foot, or hand massage, or a facial with upper-body massage

The mornings in Waterbury have turned crisp, and the ridges around town are starting to show real color.

Fall is one of our favorite times of year here in the Green Mountains, and this month we have two guides to help you make the most of it. First, we’re sharing our guide to leaf peeping around Waterbury, with our favorite hikes, drives, and c***r stops along the way. We also have a family guide filled with nearby orchards, corn mazes, and other fall favorites, plus a peek inside our roomy two-bedroom suite that makes a great home base when traveling with kids.

We have also listed a number of upcoming fall events happening in and around Waterbury, from a peak-foliage arts festival in Stowe to an evening of spooky Vermont storytelling just down Main Street and a cozy book retreat right here at the inn.
