Weather Advisory:

Everyone prepared for the weekend nor-easter storm that is forecasted to impact Connecticut?

The current forecast (subject to change of course) is sustained winds of 20-30mph starting Sunday afternoon with gusts reaching 45-55mph by Sunday evening. Rain totals around the State are currently forecasted from 1’-3”. There is coastal flooding concerns due to rain, wind and multiple high tide cycles as well.

So what can we expect?

With winds and rain, the police department is anticipating trees falling, roads temporarily being closed, low to moderate power outages due to trees falling and taking down power lines and minor flooding in coastal areas and those places that typically flood with moderate to heavy rains. Oh, and likely some trash bins and lawn furniture blowing around from those who fail to secure them.

What can you do?

Plan now for Sunday and Monday. Secure loose items in the yard, charge what you can in the event of a power outage, have a place to go should you need to, stay away from any downed power lines, do not attempt to walk or drive through water covered roads, ensure all generators are positioned far enough away from your house to prevent carbon monoxide from entering and of course….try to stay home if you can.

We have added staffing for the weekend to ensure our town is covered and all town departments have been updated and communicated with to ensure Waterford is ready to go.

Be safe out there everyone, lets reconnect Tuesday when we can complain about how cold it is now!
