My journey to going all natural started mid-June 2025.
I had been doing some research and just decided to take the plunge and cut out beauty products altogether—no shampoo, no conditioner, no body wash, no lotion. All of it.
I started using Dr. Bronner’s for everything, diluted it for a scalp cleanse, and used apple cider vinegar on my hair. For a while, that was it. Just that and a simple carrier oil like sweet almond oil.
I kept myself on a routine where I only did a scalp cleanse about once a week, and I’m not going to lie… it was a greasy, messy, oily process at first. My body had a lot of recalibration to do. But instead of trying to fix it, I just let it be what it was.
And over time, my body started responding.
I used to have a chronic rash under my breast that I could never get rid of. I tried everything—doctor recommendations, antifungal washes, even head and shoulders because someone said it might help. Nothing worked long term.
Within a week or two of cutting everything out and just using simple, natural products, it cleared up.
That alone told me everything I needed to know.
From there, I just kept going. I’ve always been a scent person, so giving up all my Bath & Body Works stuff honestly broke my heart a little. But then I started asking… what can I make myself?
Over the last several months, I’ve been experimenting with oils, sugar scrubs, arrowroot powder, and different plant-based ingredients. Just simple things our planet already provides.
And I don’t regret it at all.
I’m not perfect with it, and I don’t need to be. But I’ve gotten my blends down to something that works really well for me, and I honestly prefer what I make over most things I’ve bought—even the all-natural products.
At this point, it’s less about “beauty” and more about just letting my body be my body… and supporting it instead of constantly trying to correct it.
And somewhere along the way, this is how The Whimsical Wholistic Hippie came into being… or at least how I became confident enough in what I make to share it with others.
Because this journey was never just about beauty products.
It’s been about breath. Movement. Learning how to take care of myself as a whole being—mind, body, and spirit.
From breathwork to somatic movement to learning how to show myself love, grace, and compassion…
That’s really what all of this has been about.
