Maybe you’ve always seen yourself as a bit of an adventurer, and you have a love for the outdoors and science. Apply to be part of the 🧑🔬 Scientists in Parks Program, which offers paid internships to help you learn a variety of different skills and prepare you for a career in science! The program is a partnership with the National Park Service, Ecological Society of America, Stewards Individual Placements, AmeriCorps, and the Geological Society of America. Applications for the winter season are open through June 16th!
Every year the program places hundreds of college students, recent graduates, and early career professionals across the National Park System to work on natural resource management needs.
The program welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and encourages those to apply who are from underrepresented communities, those with disabilities, and those who are interested in 🧮 Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Explore internships in 🧫 biology and climate change work at Joshua Tree National Park, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Congaree National Park, Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park Hawaii, and Big Thicket National Preserve.
🌳 Ecology at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, Denali National Park and Preserve, Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve, Fire Island National Seashore, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Pecos National Historical Park.
🗺️ Geographic Information Systems and Natural Resource Management at Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Yosemite National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park, War in the Pacific National Historical Park, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Cape Cod National Seashore, Grand Teton National Park, Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Big Cypress National Preserve.
🔭 Astronomy and Education at Lassen Volcanic National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, Waco Mammoth National Monument, Shenandoah National Park, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, Saint-Gaudens National Historical Park, Olympic National Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
🧬 Science Communication at Denali National Park and Preserve, Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park, Boston National Historical Park, and Cape Cod National Seashore.
🦴 Paleontology at Carlsbad Caverns National Park, White Sands National Park, and Yosemite National Park.
💧 Hydrology at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, Valles Caldera National Preserve, Death Valley National Park, Hot Springs National Park, and Geology at Mount Rainier National Park.
