Below the first waterfall is our little secret cave that very few people have seen. We don’t post about it much because we don’t want people falling trying to get to it. But OH MY LAWD I had to show you the ice cave that has formed!!!! I’m so glad we made it up here to see our backyard in all its winter beauty. Pure magic!

I feel like we went from a Nashville winter hellscape to a Red River Gorge winter wonderland. This is the top waterfall just behind the barn that if you’ve been to then you’ve probably seen. The next post is the second waterfall that’s below the first one and holy wow it is incredible!

What a magnificent day of exploring! This is our second trip to Tarr Ridge Trail, and we clearly missed all the turn offs to these stunning views the first time! So much of Red River Gorge is unmarked trails. I highly recommend using the All Trails app when exploring this area. This trail is only 15 minutes from our campground! We will definitely be heading back to this one soon!

The giant oak that sits at the center of our campground is showing her peak fall beauty. I’m so glad we made it up here this weekend. Kentucky in the fall is my favorite.

A little piece of Shasta Valley sits on my dear friend shelf at her new home in LA. She collected some clay during a visit years ago and made a pinch pot. Who knew the rich red clay in Red River Gorge could be fired like this. I see some clay projects in our future my friends.

Side-quest to Skybrige on our way to play trivia. It’s become one of my favorite hikes in the area. It’s a stunning arch with fantastic views. It’s definitely a low impact, high reward loop that’s under a mile and can be done in sandals and a gown. 😁

Did you know that this little camper is what started Shasta Valley? We used to Airbnb it in our backyard in Nashville. We loved meeting all the folks from all over the world that would come and stay with us. We liked it so much that we decided to buy some land here in Red River Gorge Kentucky and open up a camp ground! This lil camper here is a vintage 1963 Shasta Trailer. That’s how we got the name Shasta Valley! Slide right for a little peak inside.
