Sunrises, sunsets, sea breezes, and miles of beach sand! Come enjoy a night or a week on the Maine Coast! You have all the convenience, but without the bustle.

Moody's Cottages is a small compound in a quiet location by the marsh and beach. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Crescent Beach is immediately across the street and the property borders beautiful marshlands to the west. The grounds are quiet and safe for children. Lounge chairs and picnic tables are located all around our grassy lawns. There are nice views in all directions, and the air is cool a

nd breezy. You can watch the birds and deer, sunsets over the marsh and sunrises over the ocean. At night you can hear the ocean. Moody's is known for our cottages of course, but we actually offer cottages and guest rooms. Guest Rooms: Our guest rooms are comfortable and extra clean, and you have a choice of deluxe rooms or economy rooms. The only difference is that the economy rooms do not have a view. All rooms have private entrances and outside deck. All deluxe rooms have great ocean or marsh views. All room amenities include daily maid service, in-room coffee, heat, private bath with full tub/shower, cable TV with remote, free WI-FI and refrigerator. Bedding choices are king beds or queen beds. Cottages: Our cottages are very clean, roomy and comfortable. Our guests find them to be homey, casual and relaxing. All offer a fully equipped kitchen and living room area with a queen or double sleep sofa, electric heat, cable TV with remote and free WI-FI. The kitchens have an electric stove microwave, coffee pot, dishes and cutlery. We provide blankets and pillows, guests bring their own sheets and towels*. All have decks, some with marsh views. One cottage unit is on the second floor, all others are first floor. All have plenty of room to stretch out on picnic areas and lounge chairs in a surrounding grassy area. We offer 2-bedroom cottages and one 1-bedroom cottage. The 2-bedroom cottage bedrooms have a queen bed and two twin beds, plus a sofa bed in the living room. One cottage has queen beds in both bedrooms. The 1-bedroom cottage has a queen bed in the bedroom. All bedding is provided, but guests do bring their own bath and beach towels!

60 years. Our 60th season at Moody’s Motel and Cottages is underway. 3 generations creating a consistent home away from home for so many guests who have become friends is a special feat.
As the 3rd generation owner beginning my 7th season, I don’t take this opportunity lightly. I have strived to maintain the areas that makes Moody’s a great experience, while also fostering in changes that will allow us to last another 60 years.

As we begin our 60th season, I want to thank everyone who has stayed with us and we hope to see you back again in 2026!

At 11:45 pm last night, August 28th, we said goodbye to my grandmother and the woman who operated this business for 32 years of her life, Glenis Moody, aka Meme.

Back in 1962, Glenis, and her husband Peter bought the original Noank building and parcel by parcel and building by building, they created what is now known as Moody’s Cottages. Next year, Moody’s Cottages will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its opening in 1966.

My grandparents were still very young when I was born. For the first 15 years of my life, my grandmother worked tirelessly, day after day operating Moody’s Cottages. I saw her doing laundry into the dark and cleaning as soon as the sun rose and someone checked out. She had the cleanest property in the area and it was because she was fully invested and gave her blood, sweat, and tears to this place.

Year after year, guests came back again and again because of Glenis and the business she ran. She was a super woman.

Legacy. It is a word that is profound in my mind today. I have watched both of my grandparents pass away in the last 4 years and both left this earth at incredible ease and peace. I think that peace comes from knowing the legacy they left. Every single one of their children and grandchildren live far better lives because of who Peter and Glenis were, the opportunities they created, the lessons they taught, and the example they set.

Each spring and fall, my grandmother has come down to Moody’s and I’d show her the work I’ve done and she always has such awe. “Wow, Dustin, this place looks so nice.”

The meme I’ve got to know the last 6 years is the sweetest woman I know.

She was so proud of me. And nothing means more to me than knowing that. We have spent many days sitting on the porch at my mom’s house the last few years watching the hummingbirds and talking about Moody’s Cottages and me answering her favorite question: “Dustin, are you full?”

Every single person that checks into Moody’s hears about my grandparents.

Peter and Glenis will live on forever.

We will miss you forever, Meme, but we are all very happy you are out of the pain and discomfort and back with Papa and Grammy and Grandpa Darling ❤️

What a great summer it has been! The year started off with a lot of rain, but the sun has been shining since June!

As we head into the fall, we do have some cottage availability in the coming weeks! Starting August 24, we have at least 1 cottage available each week through the end of the season when we close on October 19th! As always, we also have our nightly rentals for motel rooms as well!

Personal friendships are far bigger than Government. They are real. They are genuine. They are true.

We are now officially open for 2025!

We are excited to start off the year with such a nice week of weather! Visit MoodysOfMaine.com to see availability and rates! We have rooms starting at $80 per night to open the season!

Cottages:

Early Bird Specials run Sunday to Friday until May 18. Cottages with multiple bedrooms, kitchen, and living rooms for 4 people starting at $130 per night. Cottages rent Sunday to Sunday in the summer months.

Room Updates:

Rooms 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 are now all king rooms with just 1 bed in them. Some of you may miss having the 2 beds, but we think the majority of you will love having the bigger bed and we knew it was time to make the change!

House Rentals:

Sea’s The Moment House which sleeps 14 is available for multiple weeks this summer and Sunrise Sunset House which sleeps 12 people also has some availability. Each house has a 3 night minimum in the spring and fall and rents Saturday to Saturday in the summer months.
