Josh captured this beautiful sunset down at Low Bridge the other night☀ We received some rain yesterday and last night, but it just made the Pine bump up to 230 CFS, which is average for this time of year. Skookum to Low Bridge is good to go without any portages (as far as we know!).
Warm, summer-like temps are revisiting us this week - a great time to get on the Pine! The weather looks amazing for this upcoming holiday weekend - highs in the 80's and lows in the 50's. We do have campsites as well as watercraft rentals still available - give us a call at 231-862-3471 or head to our website at www.thepineriver.com to book your river adventure today 🛶🌊

This trail cam near the Pine River has been busy! 🐻 First, this little family of black bears strolled through, followed by the bucks a few days later 🦌
Black bears are naturally shy and want nothing to do with people — they'd rather amble off into the woods than say hello. A couple of easy habits to keep it that way: store food and trash securely and keep your campsite clean.
We're grateful to share the river valley with neighbors like these. 🍂

The Pine is running clear, cold, and below average for this time of year. We are thankful that this river is spring-fed, like the spring in this video, so we never have to worry about the river being too low to paddle🛶
Skookum to Low Bridge is all clear of portages to the best of our knowledge.
We are still open 7 days a week - the weather this upcoming weekend is looking great. We have plenty of campsites and watercraft rentals available (walk-ins are welcome!). Let us know if we can help you enjoy what's left of this summer!

New magnet and stickers just landed 🛶
The gift shop is open 7 days a week — Pine River stickers, tees, hats, and mugs - you name it. Stop in before or after your float, or just swing by. No trip down the river required.

Look at that water. 👀
When the Pine hasn't seen rain in a few days, it runs crystal-clear.
The river is currently running below average. Walker to Low is clear of portages as far as we know. Briar Patch to Skookum has portages, and we've heard that Skookum South to Walker is clear of portages, but has tight spots.
The Pine is running cold, fast, and clean 🌊 We're still open 7 days a week - the forecast is looking great. Come on out for a trip down the river!

We've gained a lot of followers this past year and we haven't done an intro post in a while, so we thought it would be appropriate to share a bit about ourselves for our new followers!
We are Jacob & Alaney Miltner, second generation owner/operators of the Pine River Paddlesports Center. We are truly a small family run business - if you call and hear children crying, laughing, or screaming in the background, it's because we run it with our two kids, Quinn and Marrik, right alongside us. And many of you already know Hoxey, our 10 year old pup who became our unofficial mascot several years ago.
Jacob has many years of experience working on the Pine since he grew up here and started working for his parents at a young age. I, Alaney, came along in 2012 as an employee, but soon became part of the family when we married in 2016. We decided in 2019 that we would like to move toward purchasing the business, and it was finally a closed deal in 2022. Our biggest driver for purchasing the business was because we wanted to have kids one day and we wanted to be able to raise them ourselves. Even though it's not convenient or easy to have your kids with you all day at work, being able to be with them every day is a huge blessing.
If you'd like to learn more about the history of the Pine River Paddlesports Center, including when Jake's dad, Mark, bought his first Pine River canoe rental in 1971, check out our YouTube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ9AOD3JP88
We just wanted you to be able to put a face to the name, so every time you rent a boat or a campsite, or buy something in our store, you know exactly who's behind it. Thank you for your ongoing support - we appreciate it!

Josh and Jake were cutting a tree last week from a canoe...Jake went to grab a branch with his hand and almost grabbed this snake😂You just never know what you'll see on the river!
Can anyone tell me what kind of snake it is? (I honestly haven't looked it up yet, so I'm genuinely curious!)

Another beautiful summer weekend is in the books! We had the pleasure of renting canoes to this awesome group for yet another year - this was the Wilson Crew's 43rd year down the Pine. The ringleader, Lew, is in his 80's now and still pulls off this amazing outing every year. This is one of our most organized large groups - an impressive feat!
The Pine is still running just about average. Rylie and Brent hopped on the river to clear the portage between Lincoln and Elm Flats last week, and then Josh and Rylie hit the river the next day to get a tree that had fallen between Elm Flats and Dobson.
The weather this week and into this coming weekend is looking fantastic. Soak up these sunny, warm, summer days while you still can☀
