Today is a day we'll never forget.
The Union County Foundation is incredibly proud to announce that the Union Square Pavilion has been awarded $1 million through the Indiana Economic Development Corporation's READI 2.0 Arts & Culture Initiative.
As part of the Southeast Indiana READI Region, Union County was selected for this transformational investment because of the momentum our community has built through years of partnership, planning, and believing in what's possible.
This project is about so much more than building a pavilion.
It's about creating a place where music fills the air, artists and makers share their talents, families gather, local businesses thrive, and our community comes together year-round.
It also gives us the opportunity to partner with Bolt Media Company to tell Union County's story through a docuseries featuring local artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who are proving every day that creativity and innovation can flourish in rural Indiana.
For years, the Foundation has invested in this vision—acquiring property, preparing the site, planning for the future, and even creating a Community Development Project Coordinator position to help lead downtown revitalization. We believed in this project long before anyone else invested in it.
This award affirms something we've believed all along:
Rural communities are worth investing in.
This investment didn't create momentum in Union County—it recognized the momentum our community had already created.
To every volunteer, partner, donor, local business, elected official, and community member who helped make this possible—thank you. This achievement belongs to all of us.
We're just getting started; the best is yet to come!
