Following up on yesterday's post about WJ's boom, bust, and revitalization, here's a photo of one of the last steam trains running in America.

Norfolk and Western was renowned for its steam engine technology and steam was used on our track into the 1950's.

Also, we have a train schedule, which was given to us by a hotel friend.

Does anyone know what model this steam engine is? Or any other details you'd like to share about West Jefferson's railroad history?

West Jefferson in the 1920's was a new, bustling town on the move. By the 1970's the train tracks were pulled up, the hotel stopped taking guests, and the place was in decline. It is amazing to see WJ back to life today...a bustling place with a vibrant historic hotel in the center of a town full of cool shops and happy people.
