We recently took a weekend trip to Branson with the grandkids — lots of fun and activity, but it made us realize why small-town Weston feels so special. From wandering storefronts to friendly local recommendations, there’s a warmth you only notice when you leave and come back. Read more about why Weston feels like home: https://wix.to/rXaHFg9

Michelle and I recently spent a weekend in Branson with our grandkids. We had a great time, and there’s certainly no shortage of things to do there. But somewhere between the traffic, the crowds, the flashing signs, and all the activity, I found myself missing home.I missed Weston. There’s someth...

Excited for the Weston Art Walk this weekend.

Guess whose back? Back again. Dylan's back. Tell a friend.
That’s right the talented Dylan Mckee was back on the 500 block of Main Street in Weston. We are humbled to say the Saint George Hotel was the focal point of creativity. I was lucky enough to get to spend some time with Dylan to discuss his painting. He spoke about how he walked along the building looking for his inspiration for reflection in the windows.
In this painting Dylan’s artistic interpretations are taking front stage. He is stepping away from realism and showing us how the Saint George Hotel can be viewed. Let’s be honest, that's how we all view Weston. We each find something intriguing or even abstract about our town and it becomes our art. From our festivals to our shops on main and everything else. Weston is living art and we are all the painters.
Thank you, Dylan McKee, for once again choosing the Saint George Hotel as your canvas. It means a lot to see it and Weston through your creative perspective.
Be sure to check out more of Dylan's work on Instagram: .mckaa 🎨

Weston is a historic gem. Love everything about this town.

In the 1850s, a Missouri River town called Weston was larger and busier than both Kansas City and St. Joseph, until the river itself decided to abandon it entirely.
Founded in 1837, Weston grew rapidly into one of the most important ports on the Missouri River, its levee crowded with steamboats loading h**p, to***co, and other goods bound for markets downstream, and its population briefly outpacing many of its now much larger neighbors. Its prosperity was built almost entirely on its riverfront location, making it a natural hub for the steamboat trade that dominated regional commerce before railroads took over.
Then, in the mid-1850s, a massive flood permanently shifted the course of the Missouri River nearly two miles away from the town, cutting Weston off from the water traffic that had built its economy in the first place almost overnight. Unlike towns that were fully abandoned after similar setbacks, Weston survived, largely by transitioning toward to***co processing and other industries, and much of its well-preserved antebellum architecture remains standing today, giving visitors a rare, intact look at a river boomtown the river itself left behind.
