There’s a lot of history tucked into this little village, and sometimes it’s easy to forget just how much there is to the place we see everyday.
Weston officially became its own town in 1799. Before that, it was the western part of Andover, known as West Town. In those early days, life here revolved around farming, local mills, and the people and trades that kept a small rural community running. The West River and Cold Spring Brook helped power the mills that were once an integral part of village life.
One of our favorite stories is about The Village Green. Back in 1886, nine local women came together to turn a frog pond into a public park. Their efforts helped create the green we know and love today, a place for the community to gather for generations.
Weston has always had a creative side, too. Community theater dates back to the 1870s, and the Weston Playhouse began its professional theater history in 1935. It’s become such an important part of what makes this town feel like Weston.
Today, you can still see pieces of that history all around us, in the old buildings along Main Street, the winding roads, the open fields, and the mountains that frame the village.
But what makes a town special isn’t just its history or its scenery. It’s the people who care for it, the traditions that carry on, and the sense of community that makes a small place feel like home.
It’s a privilege to be part of a town with so much history, heart, and community spirit. ❤️
