This week we started laminating ¼-inch Missouri white oak strips to create the curved handrails for the spiral staircase and loft.

We’re pretty sure we borrowed every clamp in town. 😂

7 steps in, 9 more to go… and somehow we’re still surviving the geometry. 😅

The spiral staircase is finally looking like a staircase instead of a math problem. Lots of sawdust, sweat, and second guesses—but we’re making progress. 🪵🌀🏡

Who knew building a spiral staircase required this much sweat, sawdust, and geometry homework? Pretty sure we accidentally signed up for advanced math instead of cabin building.

The center tree post is mapped, the layout is set, and the very first oak tread has officially been cut. One step down… only about a hundred more decisions to go. 🪵🌀🏡

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a cabin update!

Between traveling and waiting on these log treads to dry, things have definitely felt slower than we expected. Turns out logs operate on their own schedule 😅

These have been in the kiln for over 3 months, but they’re finally ready and we can start working on the spiral staircase.

Excited to see this next phase come together—slow progress is still progress!
