By filling out this brief questionnaire, you are registered to be chosen for an interactive in-person discussion on May 30, 2026, at WVU Jackson’s Mill to share your perspectives on America’s economy, security, and well-being.

No prior knowledge is required, there are no incorrect answers, and every viewpoint is welcome. Participants must be 18 or older and will receive a $150 gift card for participating in the in-person focus group (if chosen).

The Junior Firefighter Camp provides classroom and practical training to further participants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in firefighting and emergency operations for certification in NFPA 1001, Standard on Firefighter Professional Qualifications.

The goals of this camp include:
-Allowing youth to gain insight and interest in becoming long-term members of emergency services.
- Increasing awareness among youth about volunteering and supporting the fire and emergency services.
- Providing departments with additional help in accomplishing non-firefighting or non-emergency tasks.
- Developing leadership for America’s youth, who are tomorrow’s leaders.
- Educating parents and mentors on the importance of encouraging volunteerism.
Some instructional topics to be covered include:
CPR and First Aid; Hoseline Operations; Fireground Operations; Portable Fire Extinguishers; Ground and Aerial Ladders: Leadership and Team-Building; Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus; Personal Protective Equipment; Vehicle Fires; Vehicle Extrication; Special Operations; Fire Apparatus; Forcible Entry; Live Fire Training; Urban/Rural Water Supply; Ventilation; Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting

Camper Required Equipment: NFPA 1971 Compliant Turnout Gear (consist of a helmet, hood, coat, pants, gloves, boots) and NFPA 1981 Compliant SCBA with facepiece;

WVU Jackson's Mill is still hiring Lifeguards for Summer 2026!

The Lifeguards will be supervised by the Program Coordinator for Outdoor Education and Recreation and will be primarily responsible for supervising the pool during free swim and specific water based programs. Certification will be provided if you are not already certified.

WVU Extension, strives to improve the lives and livelihoods of all West Virginians by delivering relevant, research-backed educational programs throughout the state. To ensure that these programs address critical issues that affect our communities, WVU Extension will launch a statewide needs assessment.
These efforts will begin with a series of listening sessions to be held across the state to hear from stakeholders.

•May 2, 9 a.m. – WVU J.W. Ruby Research Farm, Reedsville
•May 7, 6:30 p.m. – Jefferson County Extension Office, Kearneysville
•May 11, 7 p.m. – WVU Jackson’s Mill Assembly Hall, Weston
