It's been a fun month and now that the rain finally returned the fish are moving up the rivers and the adventures just continue to get better and better. Alpine hunts are under way and some nice deer have been harvested. We can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.

P.s. If you've been to the Lodge and have pictures to share please email them to [email protected] 🙂 Maybe you'll make the 2026 book 😉

🌧️🚨 Ketchikan Weather Update: Monday Has Chosen Violence. 🚨🌧️

Good afternoon, Ketchikan!

Congratulations! We survived the Fourth of July. Unfortunately, Mother Nature looked at the calendar and said, “Hold my coffee…”

🌧️ Rain: Expect 2.5 to 3.5 inches around Ketchikan and Annette Island by Monday. That’s not rain—it’s aggressive hydration. If your lawn starts applying for waterfront property, don’t be surprised.

💨 Wind: A Wind Advisory is in effect Monday from 10 AM to 7 PM, with southeast winds of 20–25 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. If you own lawn furniture, garbage cans, flower pots, or that one blue tarp you’ve been “meaning to secure”… they’re about to begin their annual migration to Prince of Wales.

🌊 Boaters: Clarence Strait is planning to audition for an episode of Deadliest Catch. If your boat ride was supposed to be “nice and relaxing,” maybe let Monday have its tantrum first.

⛈️ Tuesday: Just in case Monday wasn’t exciting enough, there’s a 20% chance of thunderstorms. Because apparently Southeast Alaska subscribed to the premium weather package.

🌲 What to expect:
✔️ Trees shedding branches like a Labrador sheds fur.
✔️ Sideways rain. (Our state’s official weather direction.)
✔️ Rivers rising, but no flooding is expected at this time.
✔️ Everyone pretending this is “just a little drizzle” while wearing $700 worth of rain gear.

So tie down anything that isn’t bolted down… and if it is bolted down, maybe check the bolts.

Stay safe, drive carefully, and remember…

In Southeast Alaska, we don’t cancel plans because of the weather. We just complain about it on Facebook while doing them anyway. 🌧️😂
