Wolfman 2026

Following Genevieve through her second Wolfman — and watching her take 1st in Women’s 20-29.

We are so proud of her. She dropped 31 minutes off last year’s time after that first Wolfman inspired her to get after running and mountain biking this year. It paid off.

Hope she inspires more young people to get outside and take on something hard.

River Forest Family & Friends 2026 Recap

We had an incredible summer this year! It started off with a big bang! Excavators, new roads, new sites, trees taken down, trenches and electrical dug in, trees cleaned up, fire pits hand crafted down to the very last tilt of the perfect stone angle. We are so grateful for you Gene Frederickson's excavators: Paul, Mike, Brian, & Benji, and Memphis & Taylor Greenwood.

All in preparation for our largest event of the year - the Pagan spirit gathering - PSG, which is an incredible production put on by our friends at Circle Sanctuary 300+ people creating world peace amongst the Sacred Forest, in a Meticulously curated village for 7-11 days! We are so grateful for you all for joining us, supporting us, and that you all left the campground better than you found it.

We poured our energy into fixing the showers once again (this has been an ongoing learning experience). We deleted the coin ops, and reapplied the 5th coat of epoxy, & installed shampoo dispensers. We are so gratefull to, A2B construction & Mike Lane

We now have 2 50 amp sites, & went from 10 electric sites to 22. We added power to our first double caul du sac pod site, along with water! & for the first year in the 5 years we have been here, we finally didn’t have any power issues! Wow! So grateful :)

Then July and August is river season with tubing, kayaking, & rafting and the water was really great this year! We added educational videos and we saw a lot more people go on and come off the river with more confidence than we have in the past. We are so grateful to you Sarah, Taylor, Memphis, & Ana for Capturing and facilitating many Moments of fun & Edward Babio for your 20+ years of river knowledge shared in your 13 minute video made so many fantastic trips this year for new and old rafters! Your legacy of the being the Wolf River Root Surfer is not the only thing your known for on the Wolf. & Of course we are so grateful to Patrick, Dolf & Crew at Big Smokey Falls Rafting for hosting our guests on the only place in Wisconsin you can Raft over Waterfalls - on their self bailer or bucket boats with great equipment & being so accommodating to be able to allow our campers the spot to reserve the self bailers ahead of time! This makes them feel so in control and comfortable for their very large groups and makes things feel manageable to make these incredible memories happen with all of their best friends and family. We also like to thank Andy Bitner at Herb’s Rafts for picking up our guests to take them on section 3. This way we are positioned to provide our guests an opportunity based on time of season to put in all the way from Military Park put in to Big Smokey Falls ~ Wolf River Photos

You all are truly amazing, we love you all so much & and we are so grateful for the care you give our campers. All of you guys worked your butts off to make all RFC campers so happy - we have received mostly 5 star reviews and so many amazing thoughtful stories from your kindness to cleanliness.

We also would like to tell you how grateful we are that Amy's Mom, Cindy & Rafael's tia Silvia helped us with caring for our 1 year old son, Mateo ALOT this year! Thank you guys so much! We love you and could not have functioned without you as well! Mateo is a wild one & he loves you both sooo much!

You all deserve a round of applause for your top notch service.

Because of our dream team, Raf & I were able to explore the area more this year with family & friends and find some really cool awesome places that we will add to our map in the welcome email for you to enjoy as well!

Starting TODAY, September 8, WIS 55 will be closed to through traffic from County VV (West) to the Langlade County line, and the closure will remain in place through Wolfman weekend.

The posted WisDOT detour is:
WIS 22 → County R → County M → WIS 32 → WIS 64

And because one road closure would be too easy, there’s another one to know about:
In the Gillett area, WIS 22 will be closed between Finnegan Lake Road and the WIS 22/WIS 32 intersection. The detour there will use County R → County H → WIS 32.

The important part:
Please check your route before you leave and give yourself some extra travel time. Depending on where you’re coming from, your usual route to the Wolfman may not work.

We'd much rather have you save your racing for the course than race the clock trying to find a detour Friday night.

Plan ahead, follow the signs, and we’ll see you at the Wolfman! 🐺

September camping in the northwoods, the days are warm and the nights get nippy. Happy campers have layered clothing, warm feet, hats, and a heat source for sleeping like an electric blanket or some kind of heater - diesel, electric, propane - or stay in one of our cabins.

The hiking is so breathtaking. The mushrooms are really cool to look it! There are off highway trails that you can drive through the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest with the vehicle that you drove in on.

We have some beautiful smaller lakes around us that you can fish or just float around and relax before we go into the dream season.

The memories we create in these beautiful places in nature help us find inspiration for the darker months ahead. Come to experience River Forest Campground and the Northwoods in all the seasons.
