Not what you were thinking about on a holiday weekend Friday, but maybe you should be.
Most people try to live longer by adding things.
But longevity science keeps pointing to what you return to.
Researchers studying the world's longest-lived communities found four factors that show up everywhere. Interestingly, not one comes in a bottle.
Time in nature:
Cortisol drops measurably after just 20 minutes outside. Chronic stress is one of the most reliable predictors of accelerated aging.
Real community:
Strong social connection is associated with a 50% greater likelihood of survival. Loneliness carries the same mortality risk as smoking 15 ci******es a day.
Food that comes from somewhere:
Every long-lived population on earth eats mostly whole, seasonal, real food. Prepared simply. Eaten together.
A regulated nervous system:
Up to 80% of how long we live is shaped by lifestyle and environment. Chronic dysregulation affects sleep, immunity, inflammation, and cellular repair simultaneously.
These aren't add-ons to your routine. Ideally, they are your foundation.
You have three days this weekend. Take the opportunity to include all four.
Get outside. Gather around a table with people you love. Eat something real. And let yourself actually rest!
At Mountainside, we will be enjoying all of them.
Join us sometime soon!๐ฒ
