This year, we are proud to celebrate 40 years of The Water's Edge Ocean Resort.

Our story began with two separate motels, The Water's Edge Motel on Buttercup Road and The Flagship Motel on Lavender Avenue. In 1986, a major renovation was completed, bringing the two properties together as The Water's Edge Ocean Resort.

In the early 2000s, we expanded again by purchasing the Surfside Diner property and building our condo-style units.

For more than 40 years, the same family has proudly owned and operated the resort. We have welcomed thousands of guests, watched children grow up and return with families of their own, and built friendships that have lasted for generations.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our guests and the incredible staff members, past and present, who have been part of our journey over the last 40+ years. Your loyalty, hard work, and support have helped make The Water's Edge what it is today, and we look forward to making memories together for many years to come.

A few fun facts to help you enjoy the old photos:

• The Water's Edge Motel and The Flagship Motel were joined together where our current elevator shaft is located.

• Before Beach Avenue and the bike path were developed, they were simply a dirt road running along the beachfront.

• Before the renovation, The Flagship Motel had 23 guest rooms, and The Water's Edge Motel had 20 guest rooms.

We hope you enjoy this look back at 40 years of memories.
