Happy Independence Day!!! No fireworks last night, but some beautiful northern lights! On this 250th anniversary of this great nation, we are thankful that our founding fathers had the wisdom and courage to break from tyranny and win our freedom. Freedom that still needs to be fought for and protected today.

A bunch of rain last night along with 30-40 mph winds and the ice is pretty well done for. There's slush and ice chunks out 1/3 mile or so, then it's wide open. A lot of slush pushed over to the east side of the lake, but it's all busted up and on its way out. Cold temps over the next few days, but we should be good for the weekend!

May 3rd, and the wind is starting to move things around. Some open water on the west end of the lake, and it's pushed out a bit here. Supposed to rain and stay windy tonight and tomorow, so that should do some damage. NW wind tomorrow will push it back in though. The geese say it's getting closer!

Should have good ice for a while yet.

It's a great time of year to come up and fish out of the Long Point area, especially if you have snowmobiles.
