In the spring, the lakes transition from their icy winter state to a vibrant, crystal-clear blue, typical of the lakes of the Elk River Chain of Lakes. As the snow melts, the surrounding forests begin to bloom with wildflowers, vernal pools are filled with life and loons can often be spotted returning to the warming waters!
